BDRFlash++, Flashing Pioneer drives with post-12/2022 firmware for free

Post by heisenberg »

Hi guys,

Over the last few weeks, I have worked on a successor to the widely known BDRFlash tool, which I call BDRFlash++.

BDRFlash++ (BDRflashpp) is a free tool designed for cross-flashing and downgrading Pioneer Blu-ray drives. It has been written from scratch and expands hardware support and introduces a clean, reliable way to unlock your drive without recurring costs or risky hacks.

Key features include:
  • Single-click cross-flashing: Flash selected non-UHD drives with UHD-compatible firmware with a single click enabling 4K UHD disc ripping in MakeMKV.
  • Genuine pre-12/2022 firmware crossflashing
  • Genuine post-12/2022 firmware downgrades and crossflashing: Bypass the downgrade block on drives with firmware released after December 2022 using a true firmware downgrade, rather than relying on the inferior header hacks used by alternative tools.
  • Free: Free to use with no mandatory fees or paywalls - now and always!
  • Broad hardware compatibility: Supports a wider range of Pioneer drives than the original BDRFlash.
  • 100% offline & private: Runs completely offline without phoning home or requiring an internet connection, unlike alternative tools.
  • Cross-platform support: Native binaries available for macOS, Windows, and Linux on both x64 and ARM64 architectures.
How to get the flasher?

Drop me or coopervid a PM here,
  • including MakeMKV's drive information for the drive you want to flash
  • and your OS (Windows, Mac, or Linux).

Since coopervid is more active here than me, you can also get the flasher from him. You can also contact me via email over at verbatim-pioneer-drives@mailbox.org

Special thanks to coopervid, babagaya, Mr.Penguin, and skyrider for their valuable technical discussions, to blackened2857 for laying the foundation with BDRFlash, and to everyone in the community who contributed along the way.

I would like to remind everyone they can reach out to me to for free 12/22+ flashing as well as I am an original contributer to bdr flash and have been trying to be squeezed out by the op's above

All they did was probably have ai clone bdr flash with a new feature
It maybe even based off my auto flasher

Actually, maybe, just maybe all the champs can hold hands and join up and collaborate with "MattJackson" with his "OpenSource and Free flasher he has provided for Pioneer and Mediatek Drives"
Everyone would eventually be a "Happy Camper then"

Great software. I've had the opportunity to use the Windows version. It's very intuitive to use, takes up very little disk space, and avoids unnecessary bells and whistles, focusing on what really matters. Highly recommended.

You are wrong, Billy. That was long time ago and you collected a fortune with your fees. This flasher is free and only asks for a donation from people who are thankful for this work.

Regardless of personal ideas, it's great that Pioneer's encrypted firmware has been defeated. Now there are three providers, giving us a free choice. I'm not familiar with programming, but I assume that each of you, be it Billy, Trevor, or Heisenberg, along with others behind the scenes, invested considerable effort. This eases the situation on the scarce Pioneer market for 4K ripping a little bit. Thank all of you very much.

We will do this without a predefined fee and we are only asking for a donation if the flash was succesful and the time spent in the forum to satisfy the requests.
