LG BH16NS40 SVC Code NS51 How to proceed

Post by Davros »

Hi All. New to this, so want to be sure I don’t end up with a bricked drive.
Just arrived today, a new LG BH16NS40. SVC Code NS51. Rom version 1.04. August 2019.
From reading earlier posts, SVC NS50 was the SVC code to look out for. Unsure if this later, NS51 version has shut the door on things.
How best to proceed to change this to a workable uhd friendly drive that will let me rip my 4K discs?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, will do that today. Just need to sort out power and sata cable to fire it up.

Yes, its just a sticky label attached to the body of the drive. I had asked one supplier to let me know the code. They never got back to me with an answer. Too much trouble to open a box, I guess.
I ordered from another supplier, but unless I can get help with this latest svc code, it's going to sit and gather dust.

Flash straight with BH16NS40 1.04mk and then WH16NS60 1.02MK

Also look at drive comparison on my seller page.

BTY, the drive is inclosed in OWC Mercury pro. I suppose it doesn't change anything...
No way to flash WH16NS60 FW v1.00DE to enjoy DVBfab as well?
Little fruit fly talk about taking/keeping the burning strategy from ASUS 16D1HT mainly for crappy BD and UHD compatibility support... Is it possible? What's your opinion?

"The best flash is to use LGWH60NS40 ROM v1.02, or ASUS 16D1HT v3.02 or LGWH60NS60 v1.00 as the
base for UHD "friendly" depends on which drive you have, then replace the 0x001E9000 to the end (the
section for the burning strategy) with ASUS 16D1HT v3.03's 0x001E9000 to the end (ASUS has the best
burning strategy I found out after test burned about 20 of 25GB, 50GB, and 100GB BD and about 50 of
DVD discs). Of course and importantly, replace with the dumped 0x001E8000 to 0x001E84FF (unique to
each individual drive)."

Thanks again
