since my old drive was unfortunately no repairable, I bought a new UHD drive from Verbatim (43888) to test it out (I can return it). Unfortunately, it can't read any of my UHD Blu-rays correctly. MakeMKV simply waiting indefinitely while reading the discs, no error message, just “Scanning CD-ROM devices”.
I then checked out the ARCH wiki article and followed the instructions. The output of

But this message appears in the output: "mmc.c:394: AACS not active or supported by the drive". In my opinion, this suggests that the firmware doesn't support AACS. But further down, it says “AACS handled: yes”. That's a contradiction, isn't it?
What's also strange is that this is a 4K UHD display, but the output only shows 1080p.
Many thanks
