i dont think so i have flashed some of the ones that show 1.05 no longer the BN fw
im leaning towards power issue plug in to higher power ports or a powered usb hub

i have tried plugging it into different ports and a powered usb hub, neither changed the results. nothing shows up in the log window. the drive will spin but never successfully reads the disk. makemkv doesnt show anything after that, just says no disc inserted. i have also tried different UHD discs thinking maybe the one i was trying was bad but that didnt change anything either
Does the UHD disc show in Windows explorer?
No it doesnt even show there. did try it with a normal blu ray as well and that did show up

i have only seen the light on top red when i was messing the the power, never when a disc has been in there. i tried letting the os see it then opening makemkv but that didnt help either. i took a video of it so you could hopefully hear the drive, dont know if it will help, i posted it on reddit and tagged you in the comment

I'm curious how this goes. I just got the same drive with the same 1.05 firmware that you had, but I haven't tried flashing it yet.
