I made this (technically vibe coded with Claude tokens) - my way of giving back a little (note I do not and will not ever use MAC you can take my nerd card but i already burned it

)
Thanks for the feedback! I've built your suggestion in: the script now swaps the dump's cut-down AACS/MKB_RO.inf for the full file copied straight from the disc, then opens the repacked dump to check the full MKB_RO.inf really is in there.

What it does
You put a key-fail disc in the drive. The script finds that disc's MakeMKV dump, repacks it with the full MKB_RO.inf, and zips everything you need for a submission. Then it ejects the disc and waits for the next one. For a stack of new discs, it takes about a minute per disc.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11 (it uses tools built into Windows: PowerShell, tar.exe and Compress-Archive; nothing to install)
- MakeMKV installed, with a LibreDrive-capable drive
- keydb.cfg in your MakeMKV data folder (optional, but it lets the script skip discs that are already keyed)
Setup (once)
1) Unzip both files into one folder, for example C:\key-submit
2) Close MakeMKV (the script needs the drive to itself)
3) Open PowerShell and run:
Code: Select all
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "C:\key-submit\key-submit-batch.ps1"
4) Answer three questions. Press Enter to take the default shown in brackets:
Code: Select all
First-time setup (saved to C:\key-submit\key-submit-settings.json - run with -Setup to change later)
Folder to save the submission zips in
[Enter = C:\Users\YourName\Documents\key-submit]:
Synced cloud folder to copy zips into (Google Drive / OneDrive), or Enter for none
[Enter = none]:
MakeMKV data folder (where keydb.cfg and the MKB*.tgz dumps are)
[Enter = C:\Users\YourName\.MakeMKV]:
Saved.
Ready. Insert a disc. (Close this window to stop.)
- Zips folder: where your finished submissions go
- Cloud folder: if you give it a Google Drive or OneDrive synced folder, each zip is copied there and uploads by itself. Leave it blank to upload by hand.
- MakeMKV data folder: only change this if you moved it in MakeMKV's Preferences
Using it
Insert a disc and wait. Here is what you will see.
A disc that needs a key:
Code: Select all
Disc: WATERWORLD_UPK1_GH
Disc ID: 78FAA41B12818AED4101E5FE6E010B8BCE33313C
MKB_RO.inf copied (128 MB)
Dump: MKB20_v68_Waterworld_3AA9.tgz (disc ID matches)
Dump repacked with the full MKB_RO.inf (128 MB) - checked
Ready: C:\Users\YourName\Documents\key-submit\WATERWORLD_UPK1_GH.zip
Upload the zip, make the link public (check it in a private window), and post using the thread's template.
Ejected. Insert the next disc.
A disc that is already in your keydb:
Code: Select all
Disc: WATERWORLD_UPK1_GH
Disc ID: 78FAA41B12818AED4101E5FE6E010B8BCE33313C
GOOD NEWS: the keydb now has this disc's key - no need to submit. Just rip it.
Ejected. Insert the next disc.
A disc MakeMKV has never opened: the script runs a MakeMKV scan in the background so the dump gets created. It only scans; it never rips. Then it packs the disc as above. This takes 1-3 minutes, longer for Java discs.
A disc MakeMKV can already open: it tells you no key is needed, so just rip it.
What's in each zip
- The MakeMKV dump (.tgz), with the full MKB_RO.inf inside
- MKB_RO.inf on its own, copied straight from the disc
- disc-id.txt, with the disc label and disc ID
Every disc is also logged in submit-list.csv, so you can copy the disc IDs into your post.
Then post as usual
Upload the zip (or let the synced folder do it), make the link public, check it in a private window, and fill in the template.
Good to know
- It finds the dump by disc ID (SHA-1 of AACS\Unit_Key_RO.inf), not by date, so the right dump is used even if you open discs out of order.
- It never changes your real MakeMKV files. It only reads them.
- The script itself makes no network connections. The only thing sent anywhere is MakeMKV's own dump upload, when it scans a new disc.
- To change your folders later:
Code: Select all
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "C:\key-submit\key-submit.ps1" -Setup
- Single disc instead of a stack: run key-submit.ps1 instead of key-submit-batch.ps1.
