I do not have the drive yet, but all information except the serial number on the label matches with the one agent_x007 posted here about:
viewtopic.php?p=202739#p202739

I will check weather the firmware version on the drive is still old enough before I try flashing it, of course.

Does that help?
C'mon! Get the drive and post its info. I will send the flasher then.
Here is my Makemkv drive information (I have my drive now and this is what Makemkv reported when I connected it):

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr0
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-UD02D
Revision: 1.02
Firmware date: 2014-02-10
Bus encryption flags: 1B

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8410
Firmware version: ID84
I guess it is okay to redact the serial number since the others are doing it too?
An UD02 can't be flashed to read UHDs. Sorry, buddy!

But LibreDrive can be enabled, so that it still works when inserting BluRay disks that have a newer AACS version, right? It says "Status: Possible, not yet enabled" in the LibreDrive Information, after all.

Regarding 4K, this is a newer hardware revision of the UD02D (HW:1.02, SW:1.02), the label says BDR-UD02TBD.

My thanks to Coopervid and Billycar11 who both responded to my post.
I went with the automated flasher solution from Billy that is just one-click and does everything right first time.
Good bit of work Billy thanks again.

hi KoLibre, i wonder if you still have your UD02 with you? i have a UD02 also, but i didnt back up the original firmware before proceeding to crossflash it to a UD03 and then eventually to a UD04...now its a dead drive as the laserhead mechanism is stuck at the extreme opposite end instead of being positioned next to the central spindle where it should always be positioned to read discs..
if you still have your ud02, i would definitely be grateful if i could get the original ud02 firmware to bring back to live my dead ud02. thanks.

Hi Billycar11, I would like to get the flasher tool for my ASUS SBW-06D2X-U (Pioneer RS8511 platform, pre 12/22 firmware from 2017). Unfortunately, I'm a new member and can't send PMs yet. Could you please send me a PM or reach out? Thanks a lot!
