Cordialement,
c-basti1

This is a LG drive. You can flash it to BU40N 1.03-MK. No, not possible to revert back to the original firmware.
Cheers :D

Hi there, I am sorry I have not been successful in getting my new Asus SBW-06D2X-U to play / rip UHD (Mortal Engine).
It was originally on Revision A102 and have since successfully flashed it to BU40N 1.03MK, but this did not yield a drive that can play or rip UHD.
I then successfully recovered it to BU40N 1.00, still no reading / ripping of UHD.
So then I went back to BU40N 1.03MK, Still no dice.
All was done without a disc in the drive. The drive was power cycled after flashes and even the computer has been power cycled for good measure.
I have tried with one and two USB's connected to both front of PC and also to the back of the PC.
I am using a registered MakeMKV v1.18.4 and it is configured to decrypt VLC, where I use the: Media/Disc/Blu-ray/No disc menus ticked/ correct drive approach.

I have no problems watching or backing up normal Blu-rays and my Mortal Engines UHD disc is mint and has been cleaned for good measure.
My Xbox has no problems reading/playing this movie.

You all make it look so easy and I don't know why mine is not playing ball even though all seems to be as it should.

Drive Information (is currently)
OS device name: I:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: MO7.....
Firmware date: 2118-10-24 19:34
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 68

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

I would have PMed if this site would let me but apparently I am to new to do that.
Does anyone have any idea why it's not playing ball for me?
Hopefully I am just being a wally and missing something.

Thank you for your time :D

"So what happens when you try to rip a UHD disc?"

When I click on the Open Blu-ray disc button in MakeMKV, it starts to open and down in the log it reads:

Using LibreDrive mode (v06.3id=866A98CB9C4E)
Using direct disc access mode
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
Saved AACS dump file as C:/Users/...../.MakeMKV/MKB20 v68 Mortal Engines 8ED3.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

At which point it reverts to the previous screen and the drive keep spinning like its trying to fly to the moon... until I eject the disc. When trying to watch in VLC it just fails and tells my the disc is corrupted.

Your issue is not firmware related. Your drive has been flashed successfully. Either the decryption key for that disc is not yet available or something on your PC might be blocking the key downloads.

Ensure MakeMKV has internet access (in preferences) and that your PC is not geo-blocking Russia as that is where the hashed keys database is downloaded from. You may need to run MakeMKV through a VPN.

You can also use the public KeyDB which may contain the key for your disc. For info on how to set up the public KeyDB, go to the first post of the Public KeyDB Submission Thread: viewtopic.php?p=176733#p176733
Cheers :D

Hi, I have an ASUS SBW-06D2X-U (BU40N inside). Flashed successfully from encrypted stock to DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK — LibreDrive Enabled, works great in MakeMKV.

Now trying to move to DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 (for PlayerFab compatibility too). SDFtool Flasher runs to 100%, says Done, drive re-enumerates — but MakeMKV still shows Revision: 1.03, not 1.00. Tried twice, same result.
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BU40N
Revision: 1.03
Serial number: MODP3EJ5428
Firmware date: 2118-10-24 19:34
Bus encryption flags: 17

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
Is DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 unable to overwrite a drive already in "Patched" (1.03-MK) state? Do I need to RECOVER back to original first?

Ripping already works fine on 1.03-MK, so this is more of a "nice to have" — just want to know if 1.00 is reachable from here.

Thanks!
