Ack, was not prepared! Which one should I order BP55 or BU40N? I don't know the difference! Thank you!

EDIT: I am in US and only use MakeMKV so I think I wanted 1-03MK firmware? Only saw 2 of each model was available and needed 4 (for myself and coworkers - bundling to save shipping) so ordered 2 of each? Was that right?

EDIT 2: Asmcom helped me out today - recommended for my use the BP55 with the 1-03mk firmware and let me adjust my order. Really appreciated the help. I then had horrible trouble sending payment, ended up being totally a fault on my end (my PayPal was being really weird) but Asmcom was super patient and I finally got it sorted out.

We're glad we were able to help you choose the right firmware for your setup. Since you're only using MakeMKV, the BP55 with 1.00MK firmware is an excellent choice and should serve you and your coworkers very well. We recommend not updating this firmware, as newer does not always mean better.

No worries at all about the PayPal issue either. These things happen from time to time, and we're just pleased we were able to get everything sorted in the end.

Review pending for a previous purchase.

I'm relatively new to the world of backing up my Blu-ray movies (4K is currently scarce). I've probably arrived too late to find compatible drives, let alone Pioneer ones.

In February 2026, I placed an order with asmcom and managed to get one of the last remaining Pioneer drives, along with a 5.25" ASUS burner.

The experience was very satisfactory throughout, despite my initial hesitation to pay with PayPal (friends and family). Communication was very smooth and the explanations were detailed.

The order arrived as expected, perfectly packaged and very well protected internally, so the drives were in perfect visual and working condition. Naturally, I immediately tested them with 4K movies and they worked flawlessly as soon as I connected them to my PC.

I thanked them for their professionalism and reliability throughout the process and for instilling so much confidence in me.

So much so, that I have now ordered another drive from them, and I am waiting for them to confirm its shipment. Based on my experience, I can recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable drive compatible with UHD-4K.

We also received the balance of our BP55 and BU40N drive order yesterday, so everything is on schedule for next week.

Hey Asmcom. Was hoping to purchase one of the recent Hitachi BU40N drives but I see the US power adapter variant is sold out. Is it possible to order one of the still available country variants and source my own adapter? or do you not recommend that? Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Just picked up my order from the weekend. Super fast dispatch and delivery. Would have been yesterday but for the fact that I'm not working from home at the moment.

My original UHD drive gave up the ghost after 2 years of punishment. While trying to see if I could fix it, I scratched a brand new disc (Arrow's new Falling Down 4K). Got the new drive going on the disc in the hope the scratch is just surface but I'm not holding out hope! Then time to move on to Soylent Green and Stranger Things.

Yes, within the next 10–14 days we expect to have everything back in stock – including Asmcom Stable Power Looms, Hitachi BP55 & BU40N drives, and power supplies for all countries, including the US.

Just to clarify, these will be the final brand-new Hitachi BU40N drives available. We purchased the last production batches manufactured by Hitachi, consisting mainly of December 2025 production, with a small quantity from September 2025.

So, if you're planning to purchase one, there will be another opportunity once the new shipment arrives. However, once these final batches are sold, there will be no more new Hitachi BU40N drives available.

Hopefully everything will arrive within 10 days, but to be on the safe side, please allow up to 14 days.
