ohhh, I'll try to run that issue down!... I assumed that was MakeMKV attempting to grab the updated keydb or something, I didn't realize it was calling to another database entirely. I am diligent about keeping the keydb updated with latest every time I try, so I never tried to figure out what was tripping up MakeMKV, and just chalked it up to my firewall being over zealous but otherwise moot, since I was explicitly grabbing the latest key download. Hearing that if i clear up that wrinkle up, I might have better luck with my existing disks, I'll start chasing down what's blocking MakeMKV. Ty so much for pointing that out!

MakeMKV's own database is its private "hashed keys", and it does try to update this automatically. However, the public KEYDB.cfg file is an optional database, and it is up to you to keep it up-to-date, should you choose to use it.

Since you're using Windows, you might want to try SamuriHL's KeyDB Helper utility, which can make it easier to update your KEYDB.cfg file and can also validate entries for the disks you already have.

Most likely your firewall is geo-blocking Russia as that is where the HK database is downloaded from.
Cheers :D

Thanks, but KEYDB.cfg has contained this disk since the end of March 2026. Try copying the latest KEYDB.cfg file into MakeMKV's data directory (i.e. where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files) and restarting MakeMKV.

BTW your "Disc ID" is actually 0xCB6C78E333F47BFE8EF1F25838E3A7A078974A1A

I won't distract this thread any more than to say thank Mr Pengin, Marty, and keydb for educating me. It was indeed my firewall blocking eastern Europe. As soon as I opened that block, everything started working, and I've been rooting through my closet ripping all my various UHDs that got kicked back. I never even thought to question that as most of my library did rip, outside of a few outlier. Thank you for noticing that right away, and hopefully I can be a cautionary tale to someone lurking like I have been. :) Ty again!
