Hey Brian, as I mentioned to frameloose just now, you can actually self-serve that particular title using SamuriHL's KeyDB Tool.

Hey frameloose, thanks for the new disc dump. Your disc has been added to the public keydb. As you use Windows, you could've processed this particular disc with SamuriHL's KeyDB Tool. That would've avoided the need to post to this thread, so I'd definitely recommend trying it in the future. You can always post here if your title remains unsupported.
Here i have been using KeyDB Tool for like a year without knowing that feature :D Will try it next time :)

@RandomSelf, please stop creating new threads for each disc. You've created dozens of threads with zero replies and all it does is slow down the process of adding new titles by effectively hiding your own submissions.
To be clear, creating a new thread for each movie title (such as "Elio") is how MakeMKV expects people to announce their dump variants, as well as emailing those dumps to svq@makemkv.com. This allows people to know which TGZ dump files have already been emailed in, and so helps avoid overloading the mailbox with duplicates.

But the best way to add your dump to KEYDB is to post to this "Public KeyDB Disc Submissions" thread by following @keydb_helper's template :).

I had great success with the Samurai tool. Thank you for pointing me in that direction. It's easy and also, make sure your makemkv points to the updated directory. I did the Samurai tool and makemkv didn't work because I hadn't changed the database folder location. Very impressive. :D

Thanks guys. I didn't want to seem like I was complaining about the submissions, but self-serve really is the quickest and easiest option for everyone where possible.

Great to hear the custom data folder location is handled properly, I know that can be a source of frustration for MakeMKV users.

Fair point, I probably should've requested a post here in addition to rather than instead of a title-specific thread.

I'm not 100% sure the '@'-tagging works here - I was only notified about the quote/reply. No idea why I thought that would work in my earlier post.

No problem at all. I want to clarify the workflow if I could. If Makemkv can't locate a key, run Samurai's db tool first to update the database as that alone might fix the issue. If not, and the app is pointed to the new/updated database, a disc dump would be the next step. Let me know if I missed anything.

Lastly, would grabbing the disc info from the db tool and saving it locally be of any value to the end user?

I wrote the tool to give people more information about their discs. Under the covers it's using FindVUK to do all the heavy lifting (Nalor rocks!). The MakeMKV data directory copy was an annoyance for myself which is why I solved it in the tool.

The reason keydb_helper is pointing anyone on Windows to it on unknown discs isn't because there's some magic that my tool does. It scans the freshly downloaded KeyDB (from FindVUK) for media keys that are already known and checks if there's one that works for your particular disc. If it finds one it uses libaacs to calculate the keys for you and then uses FindVUK to call validate disc which will validate the calculated keys and upload them to the keydb. My tool simply helps make this easier for people.

I grabbed the latest DB, and double-checked each one with KeyDB Helper, so hopefully everything is in order. To everyone answering these posts, thank you soo much! It is very appreciated!...

Can you adjust the "Share" option for all of these files please, so that people can access them?

Hey Twistedsheep, welcome to the forum. Your first post was very comprehensive and you included almost everything required. If you can sort out the availability of those links it would be appreciated.

Gah, stumbled right out of the gate. I hit the folder with 'anyone with link' permissions. It seems to work on my end, and using incognito mode to view the files. Please let me know if it's still being stubborn... and thank you again!

Thanks for doing that :). However, I have noticed this line in all your log files:

Code: Select all

003339:0000 Automatic HK downloading is disabled or failed.
I strongly suspect that MakeMKV would have been able to decrypt all of your disks out-of-the-box, had it been able to download its "hashed keys" (HK) database successfully ;).

Having said that, your TGZ dump files all look complete and you could also try downloading the latest KEYDB.cfg file, copying it into MakeMKV's data directory (i.e. where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files - C:\Users\buffy\.MakeMKV\ in your case) and restarting MakeMKV.
