Hi - I believe I followed the template correctly in post #1786 for Pee Wee 4k criterion. Are you able to review that one?

Have you tried downloading the latest KDYDB.cfg file, copying it into MakeMKV's data directory (i.e. where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files) and restarting MakeMKV?

Thanks to everyone who followed the template and provided new disc dump files. The following discs have been added to the public keydb (new media keys are indicated with an asterisk):

Code: Select all

*MKB20_v60_GODS_OF_EGYPT_9D8A
*MKB20_v77_Halloween_2_2605
*MKB20_v77_Halloween_3_9639
*MKB20_v77_Se7en_8EE7
*MKB20_v77_The_Rocky_Horror_Picture_Show_6ACC
*MKB20_v82_Double_Impact_F1E0
*MKB20_v82_Nobody_2_ABD2
As the public keydb continues to grow, there are an increasing number of UHD media keys which can be used to derive complete keydb records for similar disc variants. I strongly recommend Windows users take the time to try SamuriHL's KeyDBTool as it would've derived & submitted the variant-specific keys and avoided the need to post the following titles:

Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
  • Please use file hosts, not forum attachments
  • You must include the MKB_RO.inf file from the AACS folder on your disc
  • Place the extracted keydb.cfg file in the same directory as your disc dump files

I have and just tried it again. However, I did open the KEYDB file and confirmed that my disc ID is present, but I keep getting this error: "The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted. Failed to open disc."

I'm using the MakeMKV docker on an Unraid server. I just deleted my KEYDB.cfg file from appdata/MakeMKV and then download and copied over a new one. I also completely shut down the server and retried again.

MakeMKV isn't finding your keydb.cfg file. You need to know what the data directory is defined as and put the keydb.cfg in that directory. Sometimes it needs to be named KEYDB.cfg as on Linux case is not optional.

Thanks keydb_helper for the note about SamuriHL's KeyDBTool, I did actually use this first, but didn't realise it could be used in the way you suggested - still pretty new at this ;-) sorry for wasting time and bandwidth!
My 'All The President's Men' UHD disk is now being read in makemkv correctly, so all good.
Thanks to everyone for making these tools and being so helpful! 8)

Ok thanks for the feedback. I placed the file in the correct directory and now and it is seeing it, but I'm still getting the same error. Then when I reviewed the Disc ID entry it says "NOTVALIDATED". Could this be the issue?

Is there a Mac friendly version of this tool?

That has nothing to do with it. But I'm telling you right now, "I placed the file in the correct directory and now and it is seeing it" <-- No. You wouldn't know if it's "seeing it" or not. The only way to know that is if it opens a disc that was previously giving you the key issue that then opens once the keydb.cfg is updated. So your premise is incorrect about MakeMKV "seeing it". It's not.

Ok so when I tried to run this from the MakeMKV console, I thought this meant that since the Host Keys automatic download failed that it was looking al the KEYDB.cfg file instead. If this is not the case, I'm going to try to get this work on my Windows machine instead.
