I'm sorry but there are things I don't understand with this whole process. I just updated the keydb and MakeMKV does manage to read my disc. But when I boot Xreveal with the same db, the key is not found. Is this the expected outcome? The pinned thread says to send a dump of the disc, but not how to do it. I've checked the "Always create BD+ dump" option in the settings, but it has no effect. No files are created in the user profile or alongside the videos.
Truth be told I don't really want to make a MKV out of the disc, I want to make a proper rip by decrypting the m2ts, which is why I want Xreveal to do the job.

You have to point XREVEAL to the keydb.cfg in the settings. Usuallyaxymeus wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 2:16 pmI'm sorry but there are things I don't understand with this whole process. C:\Users\"YOURUSERNAME"\AppData\Roaming\aacs\keydb.cfg
Using Makemkv you DO NOT click the big drive icon but click the 2nd icon in the top row to backup as folders. And a dump is only created if makemkv can't decrypt the disc.
And actually this is a bit tricky. Makemkv expects the keydb.cfg in the C:\Users\"YOURUSERNAME"\.Makemkv directory. If you are on Windows use SamuriHL's tool which will update keydb.cfg and write it to both locations. You can find it here together with information how to provide dumps of new discs.

Re: Need help understanding key extraction
Thank you. I had put the keydb file in C:\ProgramData\aacs which seems to be working as well for Xreveal. As for MakeMKV when I used the KeyDB Helper Tool it tried to place it in C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV so I put it there. It looks like it supports both locations?
Now the thing that I don't understand is that MakeMKV does manage to decrypt the disc, but the key is still not in the database. I ran "Disc Info" in KeyDB Helper Tool (after making sure it was synchronized) and it said it could not find it as well, but it also added the key to the file itself. I'm not sure how it managed to find it on its own locally but it did… now this newly updated keydb does work when I use Xreveal. Can I simply submit my entry then?

Yes, if your KEYDB.cfg file now contains a working key then you should be able to use the Helper tool to "validate" your disk. And this should upload your key to the public database.axymeus wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 3:00 pmI ran "Disc Info" in KeyDB Helper Tool (after making sure it was synchronized) and it said it could not find it as well, but it also added the key to the file itself.
