Unfortunately this disk uses AACSv2.1, which neither MakeMKV nor KeYDB is choosing to support fully atm due to AACSv2.1's "traitor tracing" features :(.

MakeMKV can decrypt some "Zombieland" variants, but unfortunately you have one of the unsupported ones.

Well that sucks. I guess I need to look into selling the steelbook and getting the regular version to see if that works.

This is the same as the CDC0 variant, and has already been added to KEYDB.

Respectfully, it's all very well saying how easy this is (and once you've been fully through it once and got it working, it is) but it isn't intuitive at all for first timers who've ripped hundreds of discs who suddenly get these issues, and makemkv itself only advises you to click a link about the AACS version and nothing else.
I think I am reasonably accommodating of new users. That is why I took the time to carefully write (and re-write) the opening post of this thread and several of the linked posts. If a user is stuck on something after giving it a go, I'll always try to help. But after three years I have no patience for people refusing to take a few minutes to read even the opening post of a thread before re-submitting a disc for the n-th time.

Regardless things seem fine for this disc now. Thanks keydb_helper for all of this as it did ultimately get my rip completed. It does work and is simple when you get your head round it.
I am glad to hear you got it working. If there is anything you'd like to see added to any of my instructional posts you can always PM me.

There's quite a few random pitfalls for newcomers though & shit like this directed to an account with 1 post does the community no good whatsoever:
"Fuck off hfmets. Don't waste my time by submitting titles which are already supported by the public keydb."
I appreciate it's frustrating dealing with new users when you feel your write-up is perfect, but that's just part of the process unfortunately, especially for off-path processes like this.
...
If an admin can delete this post please do so. I won't be back.
Reading the instructions in the first post is "part of the process". I don't believe my write-up is anywhere near perfect and I always welcome requests for clarification. But if a user makes no effort and just mindlessly parrots the submission template, I don't believe I owe them a particularly civil tone whilst they are wasting my time and contributing nothing to the community.

At the end of the day, MakeMKV users are not my customers and I don't control or administer the keydb project or any other decryption related software/tooling/project. I gain absolutely nothing from this hobby and I don't appreciate the suggestion that I should happily accommodate every person who graces this thread.
Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
  • LG/Buffalo/Asus drives only (Pioneer drives are not supported)
  • Please use file hosts, not forum attachments
  • If your disc dump is under 3MB, you need to manually include the MKB_RO.inf file from the AACS folder

Hey Toad King, albator78 & chucky527c, thank you for the new submissions. Your discs have been added to the public keydb along with these other titles:

Code: Select all

MKB20_v76_THE_SWORD_AND_THE_SORCERER
MKB20_v77_BLACK_HAWK_DOWN
MKB20_v77_MEGALOPOLIS_2DF4
MKB20_v77_LES_TROIS_MOUSQUETAIRES_D3F4

So I just realized, that since I have a Pioneer drive, I can’t get any of the keys I need added?

Maybe I can get my old LG drive to at least open the disc.

Hey sammyd1108, your particular disc variant (MKB20_v82_A_HISTORY_OF_VIOLENCE_8171) has been added to the public keydb.

This was only possible as the media key for a different variant of A History of Violence was added on October 3rd. Because LibreDrive doesn't currently obfuscate the volume ID (VID) returned from your drive, the dump file can be used to generate keydb records when the media key is already known.

If you do have an LG/Asus drive that would be preferable as they produce disc dumps which can be used to generate keydb records from scratch.

I’m trying to submit a couple, but how do you get the disc dump links? I have the disc pulled up in MakeMKV but see nowhere to access that so I can post it on here.
The MakeMKV log window tells you the location of the dump files. The are in the MakeMKV data directory unless you changed it. You need to upload the dump to a host of your choice then post the download link.
Cheers :D
