WP50NB40

Post by candyman5431 »

I purchased a WP50NB40 VSC NB52
Used the sdk tool 1.3.6
enc checked and with HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin
then unchecked enc and checked bootloader with HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin
then selected DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin
but it stayed at HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin
with HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin it is able to read and burn bluerays but am I missing anything with not having the BP60NB10_1.00 and did I brick this drive?

Go to the first post of the SDFTool Flasher thread: viewtopic.php?p=94848#p94848

Find the section starting with: "For the moment, to flash the BP50NB40 SVC:NB52, using the latest SDFtool Flasher" and follow the instructions. There's even a gif you can follow along with!! Watch it 50 times if you have to!
Cheers :D

Thank you. Like you said I had to watch the gif many times and read the instructions as well but it is up and running perfectly now on HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP60NB10-1.02-NM00800-212005070935.bin

Would this drive be adequate for backing up a collection of non-UHD Blu-ray discs? We want to do that, format shift around 100 and that's it. No UHD discs in our future. Yes, I know Pioneer drives are better, but they're also much more expensive. Thanks!

I notice it's only got a USB 2.0 interface. Does this limit the performance of the drive when ripping?

No. USB 2.0 is stll easily faster than the max speed of an optical drive.
