Just a quick update.

After a brief e-mail chat with Asmcom I have ordered the Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD with power supply and case at a very nicely discounted price via the link on here. I also opted for the lifetime licence for MakeMKV.

I have been provided with a tracking reference for Royal Mail and now all I have to do is wait delivery.

I will post again once I have used the drive. :D
Just wanted to update you and say how impressed I am with the new drive! My only "criticism" is the length of the cable from the provided UK Plug Adaptor, it is very short. I have e-mailed Asmcom for any suggestions on if I can use an extension cable from the barrel jack to extend it's cable length. I am not sure what I would need as I am unfamiliar with barrel jack supplies. If anyone has the above BD Drive with the power adaptor from the UK and knows an appropriate extension cable please reply or message me directly.

Once again overall I am very happy with the purchase! :D :D
Hi CJT80,

Thank you so much for the kind feedback. We’re delighted to hear you're happy with your new Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD setup!

Regarding the power adapter we supplied, we completely understand your concern. The unit we supply uses what we’ve found to be the most reliable and safest power supply available, which we have extensively tested. Unfortunately, the barrel jack cable length is limited to approximately 90cm. We're sorry it’s not quite long enough for your setup.

That said, if you’re looking for a longer cable, we’ve found a suitable 1.5-metre power supply on eBay that’s compatible with the drive and uses the same 12V/2A DC barrel connector. Please note, however, that it is quite expensive at $53.76 plus postage:

Thanks again for your support and feedback, it’s always appreciated!

Hi Asmcom

1. If I order from you and something goes wrong, how/where is the best method of contacting you?

2.. I am interested in either the Pioneer BDR-XS07TS or the Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD. I looked at the differences you listed. I'm not exactly sure what the AACS 2.0 Crypto module is, is this a good thing to have, or no?

3. Are these Pioneer drives plug and play? Or would I still need any software?

Thanks.

Hi Asmcom, I really wanted to thank you for replying and for the info and link. I will probably just keep using the supplied adaptor as it is so far very reliable, and I have noticed that's a very fast in ripping discs, well one disc so far. I just need to get more confident using MakeMKV tbh.

Thanks again.

Hey Asmcom!

Can't wait to get started with one of your drives :D

Is there any discount on this model offered on your website or on eBay?

Hi there!

Thanks for making these drives available for purchase!

I'm planning to buy one for my Linux setup. Right now I have a ASUS SBW-06D2X-U which frustratingly doesn't work on Linux. A lot of wasted money there.

My question is: can you confirm that these drives work on Linux? I have a very recent Linux kernel version (using Arch Linux), so that might be an issue.

Also of note is that my current workstation has no TPM.

Thanks,
Sam

We use Linux Ubuntu 22.04, and all the Pioneer Retail drives work without any issues.

Many thanks for the great service! I got my drive today less than a week after ordering it – very impressed.
I installed it in my PC and it is working well. I used MakeMKV and have been able to successfully rip 11 UHD Blu-Ray discs.
Very happy with your service!

Hi,

My first post on here and a big thank you to Asmcom! Love the drive that has arrived today, to be honest its early days and I am very new to this but it works straight out of the box with DVDs, I do have a LOT to get through but will try a Bluray and UHD this week and add to this.

Great service from you so far, never easy finding reliable traders on the web nowadays, happy to have come across this community and yourself!

Thank you!

I have bought a Pioneer BDR-XS07TUHD drive from Asmcom and everything works perfectly.

Years ago, I spent a lot of time ripping and burning CDs and DVDs, but I haven't done anything like that in a long time. That's why it comes in handy that Asmcom offers such great drives and service with everything pre-installed, making the use hassle-free.

Its a beautiful, fast and even silent drive, very portable, futureproof  USB-C and it comes with an a beautiful case with Asmcom logo. I love the fact that it's a slot-loading drive. It works so smoothly. It will definitely fit in my collection of Plextor Premium and Plextor 716a:)

I'm using it on Linux, and it works perfectly together with MakeMKV.

The shipping was also really fast according to the distance.

I have read the instruction mails, and I will never ever flash something:)

However, I have one little question: Is it not possible for the device to update itself? I'm only asking because I have a printer that installs updates itself when connected to the internet and then deactivates cartridges from other manufacturers.

No. It won't update automatically. Never flash it!
