Thanks for your reply :!:

Lenses are cleaned with alcohol, of course. What is good for me will be also good for the lenses ....

Power comes with an USB-Y-Power cable. That shouldn't be the problem, I think. But I'll ask another friend for his powered hub.

The hint with testing the drive by burning a BD will be tested after work. I will report then.
You are very welcome! The lens will most likely appreciate a higher content percentage on alcohol as you do :D :D .
I'm afraid you're right :D :D

Ok, the burning test with 23 GB data to a BD-R was not successfull. Burning with Windows Explorer broke up with an error about the writing speed, it doesn't matter which speed I'd choose. A try with the ImgBurn Tool brokes up with a power calibration error. But the drive gets enough power. Also a hint to a nearly defective laser?

Hello,

I am very new to the topic and read a lot of forum posts in the last few days. It seems like my drive needs to be flashed to be able to enable LibreDrive. Here are the details of my drive:

Drive Information:
OS device name: /dev/sr0
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: SBW-06D2X-U
Revision: 1.11
Serial number: D**********L
Firmware date: 2023-04-20
Bus encryption flags: 1B

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8511
Firmware version: ID22

Is it possible to enable LibreDrive with my drive as suggested in the output? Is it possible to adjust the firmware to be UHD compatible? Is it true that I need a Windows PC to flash the drive?

I am thankful for any help on the topic!

Your drive cannot currently be flashed as the firmware on it is too new. Must be pre December 2022. Apparently, drives with newer firmware will eventually be supported, sometime in the future.
Cheers :D

Hi, I recently got an ASUS SBW-06D2X-U, and noticed that although it is advertised as a 6x drive, it only rips with makemkv at 1.9x to 2.0x.
Is this usual?
Also, I have been reading that flashing the drive with different firmware to be able to read 4k disks might be possible, would this also help with the read speed? I have the following info from makemkv...

Drive Information
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: SBW-06D2X-U
Revision: 1.10
Serial number: XXXX000000XX
Firmware date: 2017-04-18
Bus encryption flags: 1B
Highest AACS version: 68

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8511
Firmware version: ID22

Thanks in advance :-)
