If you have a good calibration guy who knows his stuff inside and out.
Not like my guy who didn't even look at the shadow detail in DoVi and just did an autocal which made things worse.

Would love to know some calibrator in Belgium or The Netherlands who knows his stuff 100%.

Ugoos not stable enough for daily? Oh crap, I better change my usage then. It's been rock solid for me on the latest CPM build. I do MKV backups of all my movies and it handles them all with exceptional quality.

Calibration is not easy. I'm still a novice and I've been doing it since the C8. What I will say is that if you don't have anyone that can do it locally it might be worth investing in the equipment to do it. What calibration software you choose can make a difference, too.

I mean this thread is about getting the highest quality you can out of your rips. Not having a properly calibrated display negates a lot of that effort IMO.

I don't give those people any attention. It becomes pretty clear who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't fairly quickly. Results speak for themselves. And the Ugoos with CPM is the best device I've used for DV playback.

blacks are not raised in DV but crushed, even in cmv4.0
There is actually no difference at all in DV black crush on this TV... cmv2.9 4.0, 10 000 4000 1000, all crushed the same at 72-73.
HDR10 and SDR are ok

Yup, if you're paying for it, you absolutely have the right to be happy with the result. Paying someone to push an "autocal" button with no tweaking involved is not really ok in my book.

Yes, I saw that in the AVForums YouTube review, and I think I’m noticing the same issue on my unit with the Kung Fu Panda sample. Pure black is truly black in all three modes: HDR10, DV, and SDR.

I’ll be doing more testing this weekend. For now, I’m just watching movies to build up more usage hours on the panel.
Currently watching the Italian FEL Blu-ray of Dredd, which has a peak brightness of 10,000 nits and an average MaxCLL per shot of 1,255 nits. This TV is insanely bright...

FINALLY got DoVI_scripts installed and muxing my first MKV. Thank you so much for this amazing set of tools! Will play with Davinci at some point here, as well. I want DV on all the discs that I can do it for. My display (G2) likes DV quite a bit and I have it fairly well calibrated.
