Pioneer firmware update February 2023

A 1.01 firmware was released for XS08 but obviously is the same of 1.00!

My drive had 1.00 firmware from factory! I upgraded to 1.01 just because 1.00 was already locked to libredrive (i not so fool if it wasn't) and 1.01 improves disc writing!

What does MakeMKV say about the 1.01 firmware, seeing as this is what your drive currently has?

It s a drive launched after the timeline of the Pioneer encrypted firmwares so for now it's not libredrive open!

It's a great drive apart the fact i can't rip 4k BD (yet)!

Hope support will be added soon!

The critical point is the firmware date, which must be before 2022-12-01. There are probably fewer of such BDR-X?08 series units available, but they do exist from savvy sellers.

Can you also please share this firmware(s) again? The old links don't work anymore.
It's not BDR-XD08 it's BDR-XS08

S units are "SLOT" units and much better than D series in a bunch of ways....top of the premium drives from Pioneer!

BDR-XS08 born with 1.00 firmware version that is already encrypted and it's not opened to libredrive!

This firmware is dated 2022-12-27, which means it is almost certainly incompatible with LibreDrive.

Even 1.00 was incompatibile with Libredrive! MakeMKV info gave me the same message (Possibile but not yet enabled). It was a new 2023 drive!

I updated to 1.01 just because i know 1.00 don't work with libredrive!

I hope for MakeMKV Libredrive V2!

My understanding at this point is that while 1.00 wasn't immediately compatible with LibreDrive, compatibility was still theoretically possible.

I have no such optimism about 1.01.

The link for the 1.00 firmware doesn't work. Can you please send a PM to me with a working link? Then I could check if 1.00 would work. Still needs support from Mike in Makemkv but you have rendered your drive with 1.01 currently unusuable for UHDs.

Beware it isn't an executable it's a MakeMKV firmware dump read from my drive the first time i launched MakeMKV (because it was an unknown drive)

Currently you are out of luck. And the dump file doesn't help for 1.00. I would need the flasher file for 1.00.
