That post from Mike is talking about enabling libredrive. People need to realize that libredrive does not equal UHD readability. Your drive will never work for UHD without cross-flashing it to the UHD model BDR-UD04. It's as simple as that.Saebasan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 3:02 amThank you but really? It sounds a little bit odd...MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 11:49 pmThe only way to enable UHD ripping on that drive is to contact Billycar11 and purchase his flasher.
As the first post of this thread, from mike, the admin, just says "none of the Pioneer drives require firmware update - they should just work"...
Regarding his explanations, it may just work without firmware upgrade.

As the admin posted here: "RS8xxx and later, including RS9xxx RSAxxx and so on. Should be supported."
and "Please post the drive model here."
As my model's chip is a RS8510,
eventually, may I post my model here?

May I ask to incorporate it in the SDF.bin?

As I said before, yes Mike may add it which will enable libredrive but it will still not read UHD discs. Not until it is cross-flashed to the UHD model BDR-UD04 (which will also enable libredrive).Saebasan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 3:26 amAs the admin posted here: "RS8xxx and later, including RS9xxx RSAxxx and so on. Sorry, dunno when/who you said precisely that before. Maybe to someone else, or I didn’t get it though. Sorry then.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 5:59 am

Anyway, for this drive, I just would like to free it up in Makemkv. It would be just fine to me. Thanks.
Eventually, Mike could add it?

Send Mike Admin a PM. He may need to extract the firmware from your drive to be able to add it.Saebasan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 8:35 amSorry, dunno when/who you said precisely that before. Maybe to someone else, or I didn’t get it though. Sorry then.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 5:59 am

in my old drives I found a Pioneer BDR-S09XLT which I had purchased in 2016. After reading this I had hopes it could be used for reading UHD discs.
So I hooked it up through a spare USB-adapter and ran MakeMKV. The drive is detected but MakeMKV doesn't display any LibreDrive Information - the whole section is just missing - the following is all that is displayed:
On other drives I usually get the LibreDrive information even through the drive clearly doesn't support it, e.g. on a LG BD-RE GGW-H20L i get:Code: Select all
Drive Information OS device name: R: Manufacturer: PIONEER Product: BD-RW BDR-S09 Revision: 1.51 Serial number: redacted Bus encryption flags: 1B Highest AACS version: 53 No disc inserted
Is there anything that can be done for the BDR-S09?Code: Select all
LibreDrive Information Status: Possible, might be supported in future, but not likely soon Drive platform: RS1013 Firmware version: YL07-00
I'm a little irritated. I have the same drive (BDR-S09XLT), but not with an USB-Adpter - it's in my Computer connected normally with SATA. Because I thought it wouldn't be capable to handle UHD's I recently bought a new BD-RE BH16NS40 and flashed it succesfully with DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.02_MK firm. But now I have started Make MKV and I see this message-Box with my Pioneer:
Does that mean it can Read / Rip UHDs and I didn't need to buy the LG-Drive?
Unfortuately I do not have any UHD Disc to try it on my own - have to buy one first

LibreDrive enabled does not equal UHD readability!! It needs cross-flashing to be able to read UHD discs.Hans_Meiser wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 2:49 pmBillycar11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 8:34 pmNot for UHDStarfire wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:40 pmHello,

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives
Hey everyone. Just got a new Pioneer BDR-S13U through asmcom and it works like a charm right out of the box. It was on the expensive side ordering from Canada, but it arrived quickly in excellent condition. I do notice with these pioneer drives that I don't get any freezes when playing UHD discs, so kudos for these drives. I tend to play my discs, not rip them. I always got freezes here and there with the Asus models. The pioneer are simply more compatible it seeems. Thanks again to UHD Friendly Drives Team at go.uhdfriendlydrives.co.uk for providing it. Thanks again for the great customer service!
Thank you for your positive feedback, and we're delighted to hear that your new Pioneer BDR-S13EBK is exceeding expectations. Our extensive testing has consistently demonstrated that the performance of Pioneer retail drives surpasses that of ASUS and Hitachi optical drives by a significant margin. We're confident that you'll continue to experience exceptional performance and reliability with your Pioneer drive. If you have any further questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Kind Regards
Hayley
