I've been using an Asus BW-16D1HT drive (with 3.10 MK firmware) for a while now but I'm tired of dealing with the sleep bug so I want to switch firmware. Which firmware eliminates the sleep bug but also maintains AnyDVD compatibility?
WH16NS60 1.00 or 1.02-MK
I am also currently using the ASUS BW-16D1HT, and I was hoping for some confirmation before I follow the quoted advice (I am very cautious about crossflashing due to all of the warnings here and as a general "no-no" for most hardware).

Flashing to the WH16NS60 1.00 or 1.02-MK firmwares SHOULDN'T (I know there are no guarantees) brick my drive, correct?
Can I flash to the above firmwares then return to the proper ASUS 3.10-MK Firmware, with the expectation that the Sleep Bug will have been fixed and the drive should fully support UHD disc ripping?

If you change back to ASUS 3.10-MK the sleep bug comes back with it.
Cheers :D

Well, that’s just annoying (fix it already ASUS!). I assume that the info from the first post about how to fix the bug “permanently” doesn’t work if cross flashing or did I just read something wrong?

To fix it permanently you leave it on WH16NS60 you have to remember the Asus firmware was never designed for UHD disc it's a bug that it can see them Asus is not fixing any bugs related to discs that the drive is not supposed to see.

Seems like I may have bricked my drive. Would appreciate confirmation or advice from anyone here. Thanks.

Drive is an ASUS BW-16D1HT manufactured September 2021. I flashed DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.10_MK via SDFtool Flasher. I can open/close the tray, but MakeMKV quickly says no disc is inserted and the drive doesn't sound like it's making an effort to read it. I've tried USB adapters as well as direct connection to the motherboard. I've tried normal blu rays and UHD ones. I don't have any luck outside of MakeMKV (e.g. file explorer) either.

Before flashing, I did do a firmware READ which created a dump file, but I haven't tried restoring because the dump contains 6 different BIN files and I wasn't sure which to use (if any).

I doubt you could brick your drive with the SDF Flasher.

No effect, unfortunately. One thing that may have been dumb on my end was that I did the initial flash with a slim SATA-to-USB 3.0 Adapter intended for 2.5" drives. It couldn't deliver enough power to open the disc tray, but it seemed like it was able to complete the flash just fine. I'm on Windows 10 LTSC, in case there's any incompatibility or driver issues there.

Just wondering if there's anything to know about buying a brand new LG WH16NS40 (SATA Internal) BDXL drive, from a major electronics retailer. Should I expect a non-UHD-friendly flashable drive firmware, or will I just need to do some extra work to crossflash to v1 or whatever the compatible firmware is.

I'm perfectly capable flashing the drive and tech supporting myself, but can't find any recent info on this so figure to ask.

Thank you

All LG / Asus rebranded listed drives are currently flash able.
If they weren't you would see ton of stuff here with people saying it don't work
