LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

there is still a lot to learn about crossflashing pioneers i have a pioneer 208 dbk form 2013 and it can read UHD after flashing
only 2 people in the world probably know the full list of drives that its possible on but the gist of it for now is if the drive platform is 8301+ it probably can see UHD when flashed.
but that does not mean it will be problem free some have lower quality picks ups and they wont rip BD100s or even BD66 marty found this out first hand so even if your drive can see a UHD does not mean it is useful for UHD.

Exactly.... That's why I did say his XD05S may possibly be to old.

Yep, the BDR-212DBK when cross-flashed to BDR-S12UHT could not successfully rip any BD100 discs I tried. It could rip BD66 but wasn't successful every time either.

Honestly, I wouldn't even attempt to use a 9+ year old drive for UHD, even if it did end up being capable. Far better off getting a new drive for UHD.

I have seen on ebay someone selling this drive with firmware 1.14 is there a brute force flasher and bin for this version that I can flash to this drive? Otherwise it is just a slim paper weight!

Seems you have a weird firmware version.

mike_admin described the process for adding firmware support on page 24 of this thread. See below:

Here is the process for adding LibreDrive support.
First time MakeMKV sees a new LibreDrive-capable drive, it would produce a firmware dump file (named something like dump_FW_8D764A026549A275718D.tgz ) and would say something like "Please send this file to support@makemkv.com". The dump will be saved in the MakeMKV data directory (can be looked up in preferences). This happens once per drive/firmware, and MakeMKV won't be nagging you anymore.

For some (really old) drives the dump will be a big (few megabytes) file, containing the entire firmware - in this case just this dump is enough.
For most drives the dump file will be very small, few hundred bytes. The process to get a full dump is different per drive and tends to become easier, but to begin with I do need a small dump first. Without a small dump I might have no clue that this drive or firmware even exist.

When I run the program, it doesn't offer anything. Only _private_data.tar is downloaded to the working directory and that's it, nothing else is there.

Here is the screen shot you asked for, and I have dissambled the drive and it had 2 strange labels with not much information on. I pulled them off to reveal the real label and drive details. It actually states PIONEEER BDR-UD04TBD.

I was supprised at the date of manufacture 2017 considering I just purchased this drive. But I did get it from Aliexpress.....

Somebody must have flashed it to the newest firmware. Either return it or wait patiently for a fix for the newest firmwares.

Send it back, I feel very sorry you have been scammed and probably sold an old drive that has been flashed with the latest firmware. As a gesture of goodwill and feeling sorry for you, I will sell you a drive for £70.00, most recent model either 2022 or 2023 model in an enclosure.

I normally sell these at £119.99 on ebay. Another lesson learned, cheap is not always better.

The BDR-212-DBK has a plastic lens, and we have stress tested this model. This is the reason we do not sell these models. The failure rate is 12% on BD100 discs, whereas the S12-XLT with a glass lens has less than a 1% failure rate.
