Does anyone have a link for this firmware update? I have the same drive (purchased 2018), and it doesn't read any recent blu-ray discs.corruption wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 5:38 pmJust looked up what I used sucessfully:deerewright wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 5:05 pmI have the same question. I have tried to flash my ASUS BW-12B1ST with both the ASUS flasher and the SDTool. Neither one seems to work. They both just hang and/or do nothing. What am I missing?Wolfnut88 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2020 10:27 pm
So i'm looking into updating pic related, i've found firmware 3.11 for it but i'm curious about what you posted. Do i just use the ASUS ODD FW Changer to flash DE-ASUS BW-16D1HT or will i need the official FW? Do i lose any functionalities like disc writing? Thanks.

Except for LibreDrive functionality (link below), no particular FW is required for BD. That said, 'the guide' contains links to all available tools/recommended FW/videos, etc for drives, in general.Chews Wisely wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 9:35 pmI could use some clarification here, UHD is for 4k discs right?
I only need my Asus BW-12B1ST to read 1080p blu-ray discs.
& you threw me, this being the UHD drive section of the forum. D'oh!

Re: ASUS BW-12B1ST
sorry about that, I was just responding to the thread because it deals with the same drive I have, and it doesn't read the latest blu-rays anymore. I can still burn dvd's and cd's though.d00zah wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 9:57 pmExcept for LibreDrive functionality (link below), no particular FW is required for BD. Based on that description, 2 possibilities come to mind...Chews Wisely wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 1:05 am

- BD/UHD uses blue laser. CD/DVD uses red laser. It's conceivable blue died. Has this drive been power cycled (not just a reboot) since this started?
- Host revocation... LibreDrive and AACS
Can you please copy/paste MakeMKV Drive/LibreDrive Info (text can be selected/copied) section here?

Re: ASUS BW-12B1ST
Well I didn't realize it was a different laser for dvd/cd. So before I get more involved with this, could you tell me if this newer drive is able to read UHD discs? If so, then i'll just order one right now and be done with it. It costs less than I paid for my Asus drive.d00zah wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 1:31 amBased on that description, 2 possibilities come to mind...Chews Wisely wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 1:05 am

Dunno. I would refer to the guide for recommended drives, as things change & Billy tends to keep that 1st post current.

Re: ASUS BW-12B1ST
Thank you for the fast reply. How do I find mt1959? Is it on the drive label?

Re: ASUS BW-12B1ST
I had two of the BW-12B1ST
One that was much older and the other one I purchased maybe 4 or 5 years ago. Anyway I was able to have that crossflash and now it works fine for UHDs or appears too...don't have an abundance of media to try yet. Tested with one uhd thus far and worked fine.
The other one wouldn't even try too as the software said it did not have mt1959 that it was looking for.
