Strange should have worked this is why I recommend the one step flash process not 2 steps like you did less chance of something going wrong should have flashed directly to WH16NS60 1.02mk just return it and get another.
Looks beat up for a new drive anyway on the sticker

Is it worth me trying the Recover option in SDFtool?
If I consider returning it, is there a way that I can make the drive look like I've not tried to flash the firmware?
i.e. Can I flash with the original 1.05 firmware and if so, where can I get the correct file?

I wish I had tested a non UHD drive before attempting to flash it, as there's always the possibility that the drive wasn't working to begin with.

I've now tried updating with the official firmware update from the LG website, but I get this message.

mk-firmware-pack-20200720\MK\old\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH14NS40-NS50-1.03-NM00600-211711211658.bin ??

Thanks

@beans if amazon UK return policy is similar to US/CA, then it’s no issue to return. I just returned the ASUS and got instead the LG WH16NS40. Details of firmware used are in this earlier post.

The LG seems quieter and more reliable than the other ASUS, at least in my experience.

Help! I'm trying to rescue an early model WH16NS40 that got stuck on official firmware 1.05, but I can't find the appropriate firmware file to begin the process, and FirmwareExtractor fails on the WH16NS40_1.05.exe installer from LG.

Hi everyone,

I have created a windows GUI for the MakeMKV sdftool command line flasher. The appearance (and use) is similar to the modifed ASUS flasher, which should make it a bit easier for those that are unsure about using the command line. The latest is version 1.2.0.
Hi Marty, I just registered to say thank you.

I have side loaded my BH16NS55 1.05 to BH16NS50 and then upgraded to DE_WH16NS60 1.00. Work like a charm. :-)

Thanks again. Now I am going to het MakeMKV.

Thanks for all. My problems (no disc detected in my BH16NS40 with latest 1.05 FW) seems to be solved by DosFlash32 which was included in USB recovery ISO (boot from flash to Win etc.). Many thanks. Now I´m on 1.03 FW and all seems to be ok. Thanks again and have a nice day
Hey bud I got the exact same problem as you had doing the same thing, I update innocently to official 1.05 from 1.03. It's been 4 days trying EVERYTHING including voodoo and black magic to no avail. Last chance is the DotFlash32 which i didnt check yet cos I need to install somewhere a x86 copy of win 10. My question is, which bin did you use to go back to 1.03? Many thanks

Ok I saw viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634&start=540#p103656 and used HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936. Works like a charm now! Thanks all.
