Public KeyDB Disc Submissions

Ok thanks for the feedback. I placed the file in the correct directory and now and it is seeing it, but I'm still getting the same error. Then when I reviewed the Disc ID entry it says "NOTVALIDATED". Could this be the issue?

That has nothing to do with it. But I'm telling you right now, "I placed the file in the correct directory and now and it is seeing it" <-- No. You wouldn't know if it's "seeing it" or not. The only way to know that is if it opens a disc that was previously giving you the key issue that then opens once the keydb.cfg is updated. So your premise is incorrect about MakeMKV "seeing it". It's not.

Ok so when I tried to run this from the MakeMKV console, I thought this meant that since the Host Keys automatic download failed that it was looking al the KEYDB.cfg file instead. If this is not the case, I'm going to try to get this work on my Windows machine instead.

The KEYDB.cfg file needs to go in the same directory as your generated disc dump files. In your case, this means you'll need to copy /root/.config/aacs/KEYDB.cfg to /root/.MakeMKV/KEYDB.cfg

Thanks keydb_helper for the note about SamuriHL's KeyDBTool, I did actually use this first, but didn't realise it could be used in the way you suggested - still pretty new at this sorry for wasting time and bandwidth!
My 'All The President's Men' UHD disk is now being read in makemkv correctly, so all good.

Is there a Mac friendly version of this tool?

Hey AverageMean, unfortunately I don't think there is a native Mac option for FindVUK. I believe Linux users have been able to get it working to some extent via Wine, but I don't recall reading a similar report for macOS. Please feel free to continue posting disc dump files as often as you can.

The KEYDB.cfg file needs to go in the same directory as your generated disc dump files. In your case, this means you'll need to copy /root/.config/aacs/KEYDB.cfg to /root/.MakeMKV/KEYDB.cfg

The KeyDB is a completely separate entity that has nothing to do with the automated HK downloads. Meaning, even if the HK downloads were successful, if the key is not known to MakeMKV yet, the KeyDB would still be used. And finally, I would fix the automatic download issue. It's likely DNS related or it's turned off in your MakeMKV settings. That way you can source keys from both MakeMKV HK and the KeyDB at the same time, giving you the best chance to decrypt all your titles going forward.
