"The Ugoos (or similar) is worth it for curiosity, but definitely not stable enough for a daily driver."

If you have a good calibration guy who knows his stuff inside and out.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 7:09 pmYes, and even in cmv4.0 which is quite surprising. I'm confident this can be calibrated out.deadchip12 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 5:27 pmSo, even when you put your face right up to the screen, you still can't see the 65 to 72 flashing bars?
That markswift has no clue what he is talking about.
Calibration is not easy. I'm still a novice and I've been doing it since the C8. What I will say is that if you don't have anyone that can do it locally it might be worth investing in the equipment to do it. What calibration software you choose can make a difference, too.
I don't give those people any attention. It becomes pretty clear who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't fairly quickly. Results speak for themselves. And the Ugoos with CPM is the best device I've used for DV playback.
I know it's not easy. I read some things about it the last week and it's complicated like hell.SamuriHL wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 8:29 pmCalibration is not easy. I mean this thread is about getting the highest quality you can out of your rips. Not having a properly calibrated display negates a lot of that effort IMO.
People are reporting hdr10 near black is too bright.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 11:27 pmblacks are not raised in DV but crushed, even in cmv4.0
There is actually no difference at all in DV black crush on this TV... cmv2.9 4.0, 10 000 4000 1000, all crushed the same at 72-73.
HDR10 and SDR are ok
Yup, if you're paying for it, you absolutely have the right to be happy with the result. Paying someone to push an "autocal" button with no tweaking involved is not really ok in my book.daffie wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 8:35 pmI know it's not easy. I don't have the time to invest in it.
But if you call yourself a professional calibrator and ask A LOT of money for it you should at least improve on the default setting.....
Yes, I saw that in the AVForums YouTube review, and I think I’m noticing the same issue on my unit with the Kung Fu Panda sample. Pure black is truly black in all three modes: HDR10, DV, and SDR.
Hopefully hdr10 raised near black and dv crushed blacks will get fixed. We need to make noises on forum to get reviewers' and lg's attention.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 12:24 amYes, I saw that in the AVForums YouTube review, and I think I’m noticing the same issue on my unit with the Kung Fu Panda sample. I’ll be doing more testing this weekend. For now, I’m just watching movies to build up more usage hours on the panel.
Currently watching the Italian FEL Blu-ray of Dredd, which has a peak brightness of 10,000 nits and an average MaxCLL per shot of 1,255 nits. This TV is insanely bright...
