Why Does My External Blu-ray Burner Keep On Disconnecting?

Why does my external blu-ray burner keep on disconnecting itself and reconnecting itself for no reason? Sometimes it does this every second for no reason and with both of my laptops. It's driving me mad.

If you are plugging into an UNPOWERED USB hub, try plugging directly into the computer.

Some laptops still will not feed enough power to a USB drive to let it stay connected while spinning faster than about 3x... requiring you to use a POWERED USB hub.
