MakeMKV seems to work but doesnt produce an output file

Post by Plueschi »

Hello I am new to dvd ripping.
I got my hands on a css encrypted dvd and decided to rip it. (my OS is Debian)
Now when I run the command the output looks something like this:
```
sudo makemkvcon mkv disc:0 24 /home/plueschi/Videos
MakeMKV v2.0.0 linux(x64-release) started
Using direct disc access mode
Title #1 has length of 1 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #3 has length of 26 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped
Title #4/1 was added (50 cell(s), 0:04:05)
Region setting of drive Slimtype:DVD A DA8AESH does not match the region of currently inserted disc, trying to work around...
Operation successfully completed
```
The "region setting of drive ..." appeared like 20 times in a row BTW idk if thats important

In the end I can not find any output file (I also checked root temp etc.) :(

I am gonna try to copy the dvd as an iso and use makeMKV on that next.

Do you have any Ideas why this is happening?

First of all, visit the archive and download a working version of the program, such as 1.18.4. The 2.0.0 version is buggy, and will give errors that aren't real.

Do not use sudo for makemkvcon.

makemkvcon mkv disc:0 24 /home/plueschi/Videos/
(If title 24 is what you want)

"The "region setting of drive ..." appeared like 20 times in a row BTW idk if thats important"
Yep. MakeMKV likes to do that with new DVD drives. Linux does not care about any of that...

Install regionset

Put any disc in. CD or DVD.

Then run:
sudo /sbin/regionset /dev/sr0

Set region to match with your country. Set it only once!!!
