I need to compress the size of my Jellyfin media collection so I finally started putting my backup files through HandBrake. I started with one of the biggest space hogs Stranger Things Season 5 where a single episode can be around 20 GB. I have played with numerous settings;
Encoder set to x264 and x265
Preset set from medium through every setting down to placebo
Constant quality from 24 all the way down to 16
Framerate always same as source
Container has been set to mkv or mp4
The result is always the same, the video looks blocky on my 4K tv running Jellyfin. PC and phone look okay, but you really can't see the blockyness I spot on faces in smaller screens. The source was blu-ray discs. Any ideas what setting I can use to avoid video quality loss?
