Futureworld UHD Dolby Vision Problem

Post by karbre »

Getting the following log message when demuxing the new Arrow Futureworld UHD:

Code: Select all

AV sync issue in stream 0 at 0:06:27.095 : secondary stream video frame timecode differs by -83.419ms
It reminds me of the "All Quiet on the Western Front" UHD that had similar messages, where the Dolby Vision metadata was out-of-sync for some frames (see viewtopic.php?p=134490).

So I followed my own step-by-step guide from that thread (viewtopic.php?p=134490#p134490) and demuxed the disc with DGDemux.
However, after extracting the RPU, I made some tests with the extracted RPU. With the dovi_tool, one can read info about a specific frame of the RPU. Every frame includes a "scene_refresh_flag" that is supposed to be "1" only on frames where cuts occur, and "0" otherwise. This makes it a good indicator for checking whether an RPU is in-sync with video or not.
Low and behold, I noticed this way that the RPU seems to be out-of-sync by 1 frame after the timecode in the above log message. In other words, the "scene_refresh_flag" is 1 frame behind from that timecode on.
Unfortunately I currently can't playback Dolby Vision, so I can't test visually. But my assumption currently is that this is a disc with broken Dolby Vision mastering, even more so than the aforementioned "All Quiet..." disc, where some timecodes of the DV frames were not correct, but the chain of DV frames was in-sync to the chain of base layer frames.

Maybe someone else that has the disc can check whether the log message doesn't only occur for me. Maybe there are more qualified people than me that can dig deeper into what might be the underlying issue here?
