Recovered BP50NB40 SVC NB40 (MT1959) - looking for UHD firmware advice

Post by powerbot »

Hi everyone,

This is an update after my previous recovery issue.

My drive is an LG BP50NB40 with:

* SVC: NB40
* Platform: MT1959
* Original firmware: 1.00
* LibreDrive: Enabled

Previously, I accidentally ended up with firmware 1.03 and the tray stopped working. Thanks to the help from this community, especially Sayaka's advice about the correct boot mark, I was able to recover the drive.

The recovery command that worked was:

```cmd
sdftool64.exe --all-yes -d G: rawflash "main,nowait,nocheck,boot=MT1959 Boot BUP3" -i "BP50NB40-NB40-1.00-Clean.bin"
```

After recovery:

* Firmware returned to 1.00 Original
* Tray operation was restored
* Blu-ray discs are reading normally
* MakeMKV recognizes the drive correctly

I also created backups of the restored state:

* dump_user: successful
* dump_full: successful (2MB ROM dump)

Now I would like to ask about the next step.

Is there a tested UHD firmware path for an SVC NB40 BP50NB40 (MT1959, original firmware 1.00)?

I know that NB50/NB52 firmware should not be applied directly to this SVC version, so I would like to confirm the correct firmware and flashing method before trying anything further.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again to everyone who helped me recover this drive.

No, this is a SVC NB40 drive and cannot be flashed for UHD compatibility. Now that you managed to recover it, leave it alone. Only those with SVC NB50 or NB52 can be flashed.
Cheers :D

Be aware that not every MT1959 platform is flashable, if your controlled focus only lies on this. This drive contains a BU20N I think, not a BU40N (I had this expierience in the past too). The BU40N is the flashable one and is built in den drives with SVC NB50/52.
