Cannot get Firmware flash to start

So i bought the Archgon Premium Aluminum External USB 3.0 UHD 4K Blu-Ray Writer Super Drive at the recommendation of a youtube video and tried to follow the instructions to get started. Downloaded and installed MakeMKV and then went to flash the drive. Downloaded the latest sdftool flasher 1.3.6 and it states i don't have makemkv installed. I do, i opened it. I can't get anywhere as i get the error message when i click on the sdftool flasher. this is true even if i put the sdftool flasher in the same folder as makemkv.
So i downloaded the previous version 1.3.5. everything seems to start off fine. I select the drive, i select the firmware from the "all you need firmware pack" and i click start, and nothing happens. it is as if the start button has no function. click and wait... nothing. click it a bunch of times, nothing. it isn't frozen, but it isn't doing anything either. I tried every firmware available, it never starts.
any advice on this? i am stuck.

my guide says it does not support flashing i keep it updated unlike the youtube video you watched
