Tried with few Blu-ray, UHD which a standard player reads with no issues. The BDR-XD08EMB-S keeps endlessly spinning.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
  • Verified disk and drive detection on Linux.
  • Checked for firmware updates or patches - this is where I am not clear what else is needed.
  • Ensured proper permissions for /dev/sr1.
  • Tested with multiple Blu-ray discs to rule out disk-specific issues.
  • Enabled debug logging in MakeMKV.
  • Reviewed relevant posts on MakeMKV forums but have not found a resolution.
Request for Assistance:
  • Recommendations for resolving the issue with the current PIONEER BD-RW BDR-XD08EMB-S drive.
  • Firmware or configuration adjustments to enable LibreDrive and successful ripping of 4K UHD Blu-rays.
Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.

I think your firmware is too new to support LibreDrive. Consequently this drive won't be able to rip UHDs.

It is fine for BD but can't be made libredrive or UHD comaptible as firmware is post 11/2022. Return it if you can.
Cheers :D
