Hi,
Not sure if I have posted in the correct topic but,
I'm all new to this game and have just purchased a Pioneer BD-RW-BDR-XS07TS Drive, I have been reading up on the forums and I am well aware the current version I have at the moment 1.03 won't as I understand it rip UHD Disc. I am ok with that as I have a large DVD and Blu-Ray collection to backup so won't be going to UHD for some time.
However correct me if I am wrong but I should be able to rip blu-ray and DVDs correct?
I have place a DVD in the drive and it has come back with the following:-
P.S. It also created a dump file "dump_FW_D9592FA06360AC902362.tgz" Do you require this?
Spec of Pioneer (New Drive):-
Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom1
Current profile: DVD-ROM
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XS07
Revision: 1.03
Serial number:...
Firmware date: 2023-01-06
Bus encryption flags: 13
LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS8E20
Firmware version: GENE
Disc Information
Label: BBCDVD2688
Timestamp: 2008-10-06 14:57:59
Protection: CSS/CPPM
Data capacity: 7.17 Gb
Disc type: DVD-ROM
Disc size: 120mm
Maximum read rate: 10.08 Mbps [1x]
Number of layers: 2 (OTP)
It's doing below :-
MakeMKV v1.17.8 win(x64-release) started
Using direct disc access mode
Calculated BUP offset for VTS #1 does not match one in IFO header.
Calculated BUP offset for VTS #2 does not match one in IFO header.
Complex multiplex encountered - 25 cells and 28408 VOBUs have to be scanned. This may take some time, please be patient - it can't be avoided.
It has finally read the disc and has come back with some interesting readings, firstly :-
Region setting of drive PIONEER:BD-RW BDR-XS07 does not match the region of currently inserted disc, trying to work around...
I purchased this Drive from Amazon UK and the Disc is a BBC UK DVD so the region should be correct??, Right??
I have also got Angle 1 and Angle 2 , not see that before? I just left it as default selection of angle 1. what is that?
When Ripping (Read Rate) the speeds was around 3X-4X 4-5M/s, I have it connected USB-C to USB-C.
I was expecting a little faster or does that sound about right?
Any help tips, trick or just pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

MakeMKV really isn't the best software for ripping DVD's. It can do it but there should be better software around for DVD's. Your drive should be fine ripping blu-ray discs.danieboy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 8:02 pmHi,
