Have you tried power cycling the drive? If it is USB powered, unplug it for a bit and plug it back in. If it is externally powered, switch it off or unplug it.

Vlc even with the app data and other things done still can't run my blurays due to encryption. I download powerdvd who knows if I'll have to pay for it. Idk man it's just sad that while DVD and VHS where able to be played on anything blurays due to encryption and other bs makes it expensive and a pain in the ass while also being antiquated.
