Can I still use an UHD drive to rip files even if my computer isn't spec'd to play the discs?

Can I still use an UHD drive to rip files even if my computer isn't spec'd to play the discs?

Post by jp_rainin »

My PC is in need of a new disc drive and I was thinking about just getting a UHD or UHD friendly drive. Looking at spec requirements, I won't be able to play UHD movies on my PC, but I'm wondering if I could still use this drive to play DVDs and regular blu rays? Also wondering if I would still be able to use the drive to rip my physical collection.

Thanks in advance for any advice and apologies if this is a redundant or dumb question.

Yes.

It will probably play on the same computer - the spec is very high to get you to buy a better INTEL computer, even if it isn't really "better".

And now it apparently doesn't matter, because officially you can't play disks of a random computer, even though they can.
