Hello forum,
I have recently obtained an older Pioneer Blue-ray reader. Whenever I have tried to load a disk, it gets stuck at perpetually 'Disk is being loaded...'. I have tried just waiting literal hours, it is connected to known good SATA, and I have had this install of MakeMKV read and rip DVDs fine from another drive I have installed. I have tried loading many both BRs and DVDs in the new drive and it never gets past loading. I am aware that this drive is not capable of UHD disks and I have not been trying to read them. Here is the data from the MKV screen, but I can pull the drive out and get that more specific drive information if needed.
The other quirk of my setup is that it is running on TrueNAS Scale. Again, I have had this working for another drive and it seems to be perfectly capable for many other users, it is just this new drive that is giving me problems. I will also admit that I have not ensured the mechanical function of the drive with something like VCL as the drive is installed in my server and none of my other computers have a quick and easy way to troubleshoot a 5.25 inch drive. I will wrench on it if there is not something obvious I have fouled with the software. Thank you.

Re: Blu-Ray Drive Stuck On Loading Disk
Let the OS see and initialise the disc before opening the MakeMKV application and see if that helps.pilot kaboom wrote: ↑Sun Mar 15, 2026 4:36 amHello forum,

You might have to connect the drive directly to a PC for further testing,
Cheers
