Exception: You have a PC with an Intel SGX chipset and a software player that have no restriction for direct playback.
Direct playback can be done using a UHD official or friendly drive connected to any decent spec PC via MakeMKV and an unofficial player such as VLC etc once integtrated. None of this SGX crap required.
So you’re saying that you can just place a 4K movie disc in your disc tray and play it? No need to rip (removing copy protection) via MakeMKV to an .mkv file, that you then play back via playback software like VLC or PowerDVD?

4K Blu ray discs, while region free (unlike HD Blu rays), are also copy protected and will not play, unless you have an SGX capable processor/machine to decrypt it. If you have a way around that, please explain in detail? I’m sure everyone on this forum would like to know why you consider this forum pointless? Because if what you are saying is true, none of us need to be here, or buy friendly drives.

I, for one, have an intel based machine that ticks every box, including SGX, Windows 10 and a 4K friendly drive and I’m still resolving issues.

to ease everyone's thirst for knowledge, here are actual pictures from my really old HP ProBook 4411s with a really old Intel Centrino Duo chip that actually is not even able to load up "Windows 11"
Hehehehe!!
i installed windows 11 by using the "Rufus 4.6 Application"
so the pictures will show that i am using the Pioneer BDR-XD05 usb external drive which has been flashed to a Pioneer BDR-XD06 to enable 4K Ripping and Playback too.
i am using the media player app called MPC-HC which is actually much better than VLC Player (In my own Opinion of course)
PowerDVD sucks as its got alot of legal checks to play 4K movies on your computer, so i would never recommend using PowerDVD.
there is no requirement for any Intel SGX or whatever crap too.
Hehehehe!!
Enjoy the Pictures!!

so you see?
you dont have to worry about Intel SGX or PowerDVD...
Just get MPC-HC or VLC aand make sure you go into the prefence tab of MakeMKV to "Enable integration of these 2 players for 4K UHD Playback on your Windows PC".

Yethidran, you seem to love posting large pictures, but this site has a limited upload space. I'm trying to manage it so that people can upload things as needed, but posting large pictures by the dozen eats that up fairly quickly.

Don't be surprised if some of them disappear as things get tight.

oops really wish to apologize buddy..
but i do shrink it down in size by editing the pictures via a further "Screenshot" so the size is within a total of 1MB per 3 pictures"
i will stop the uploading of pictures.
really sorry bout it.

Simple. Integrate an "unofficial" player such as VLC, MPC-HC etc with MakeMKV which then acts as the on-the-fly decrypter so the software player can play the movie. PowerDVD cannot be used as it is an "official" player and is NEVER recommended.
