As far as I understood it, you can only purchase the full package with the protective case and the power supply - at least that's the only option that is selectable.Shamoo wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 1:55 pm I’m trying to add the Pioneer Premium BDR-XD08EMB-S to the cart to purchase it, but there’s no “add” button. It says in stock but also out of stock

Hello Spacecowboy2050,
We can supply a Verbatim enclosure fitted with a Pioneer BDR-UD04 drive, which offers significantly better performance than the BU40N.
Price: £160.98 (including carry case)
Alternatively, we highly recommend the Pioneer BDR-XD07TS, supplied with both a carry case and power supply. In our opinion, this model is a better solution and a superior option, as it will easily outperform a host-powered drive.
Price: £159.98 plus postage to your country.
Website will be operational within the next week.
Kind regards,
Asmcom

Happens more with laptops that may contain USB power saving measures.Batman&throbbin wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 9:05 amWeird.asmcom wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 8:44 amSome computer systems can have issues when using host-powered drives. I never had that with BU40N USB Adaptor or Vantec solely running from USB3.

This should work with no problems on the latest Apple Tahoe OS 26.1Batman&throbbin wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 10:32 amAh Cheers Marty.MartyMcNuts wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 9:57 amHappens more with laptops that may contain USB power saving measures.Batman&throbbin wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 9:05 am
Weird.

I run a Mac so I guess that’s why I never experienced it.
A Pioneer 209EBK seller suggesting alternative USB connection on eBay recommends -
I recommend that you disable Windows USB suspend in Power Options and more importantly in the device manager tree relative to the port assigned or if you are not sure, to be safe all of them that have the Power management tab…
For an illustration see photo no.9 > Under the tab ‘Power management’ - DESELECT ‘Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power’
Thats a desktop drive on a USB adaptor works flawlessly according to the listing…
Just letting you know I am back to the land of the livingnewsoftheworld wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 5:14 pm Hi Asmcom,
I hope you are recovering well. When you are back up and running can you contact me please? I'm in no rush.
I have been advised by others on the forum to get a Pioneer drive (Pioneer BDR-212V or Pioneer BDR-212BDK) as I'm looking for a UHD compatible full size drive and a caddy for it to go in (so far I have been looking at Vantec NexStar DX2)
Reading through this forum it seems like it's easy to make a mistake when buying an optical drive as some drives can be upgraded to UHD and some can't. with this in mind If you can assist that would be great.
I live in the UK. Best Wishes.
Welcome back! :]
