I did that. It does not work. Well, it says it is successful, but the firmware does not change.

End of babysitting. You should think about why others can and you can't. So where is the root cause?

I never asked you for anything. I was asking how to get a drive, and the creator of the thread for upgrading offered some help, which I tried to no avail. You don't have to be an asshole.

You just picked the most complicated drive to flash for UHD and now you can't get it fixed which makes me an asshole. That's logic applied.

No, not at all. You did it all yourself.

Look, you started this. As I said, I was looking to buy a drive, and you asked me for info. And then end up complaining that you're tired of babysitting. And now claim you really wanted to help. Please don't. I do not want a babysitter. I will keep trying to purchase a drive, or preferably get the "Flash Kit" for this drive.

I flashed another drive, have a Plex server with an 80TB RAID5 repository with remote access, and everything works quite well. I have issues with a few discs not being read by the drive I already flashed. I wanted to have another to use in these cases so I could reasonably determine if I had a marginal drive or a marginal disc.

You are completely off. I never recommended this drive and only got in when you failed to to flash this drive for UHD. Your blahblah is not interesting to anybody. Concentrate on to get this drive flashed or put it in the trash box if you can't.

Nobody here said you recommended anything. I never asked you a single question. You jumped in while I was working with someone else.

Please do not concern yourself with whatever my ultimate solution is. Please. Pretty please.

You have completed step 1 from below. As you can see, libredrive is now enabled but this firmware is not UHD compatible. You need to cross-flash to a UHD compatible firmware by using the recover process. Start from step 2. If you aren't sure what to select each time, read the window title bar!

1. Flash the drive to BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK.

Now for the crossflash:

2. Select the RECOVERY option and in the pop up window, select the BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK firmware that you just flashed.
3. Select the BU40N 1.00 firmware in the normal firmware selection drop box.
4. Click START
Cheers :D

I have done this, each step reports success, but the firmware reported in the window in flasher never changes. I go all the way to the end, and it still reads blurays, but not UHD.

I now realize what I was doing wrong. You were not writing the recovery/crossflash as separate steps, but I was reading them as such. When selecting the recovery firmware, it does not display anywhere after selecting, I thought I was doing it wrong so was reselecting in the firmware and the recovery was still selected. The lightbulb finally lit and all is well. Ripping a 4K now. THANKS FOR THE PERSISTENCE!!!!!!
