Thank you for your kind words and email. In relation to your query about Vantec DXC2 Enclosures
We’ve never experienced a Vantec DX2 enclosure causing damage to an optical drive. I understand another seller on the forum had issues with the US version, but I can confirm that all of our units are supplied with factory-installed Revision 3 circuit boards from the Taiwan factory.

Out of over 2,500 Vantec enclosures sold since we started trading, we’ve only encountered five faulty power supplies, none of which affected the drives themselves. The new power supplies in the last two batches of orders have been perfect.

@Asmcom - Please let me know if you would be able to provide some detail pictures on factory-installed Revision 3 circuit boards such as the PCB revision, mfd (manufacturing factory date), UPC code... power supply label for your Vantec DXC2 Enclosures. I would like to know if there is anything different between the UK and USA product. It is possible that USA Amazon has a bad batch of these Vantec DXC2 Enclosures on its site that killing the drives or the vendor has problem with QA issues on these things. Thanks

We will pass this unto Asmcom. It will be a while before he could facilitate this as we are under pressure keeping up with orders.

The new PCB's have the JMS578 chip controller and Mike Chen kindly support Vantec by enabling bypassing of vendor commands for flashing drives. The new PCB's perform better than the a PCB's with the Asmedia Chip Controller 1153E.

We have no issues at all with any of our Vantec enclosures, model number NST-540S3-BK.

We have had 5 faulty power supplies out of 2500 enclosures 0.04% failure rate which is pretty good.

Looking to get a new external drive (new PC, no place for an internal), and am wondering which of the drives would work in the US (in terms of power supplies, region (DVD), etc.).

I'm interested in the BDR-S13EBK, but if there are other options from the site that would be better suited, I'm open to suggestions.

We stocked the BDR-X13E-X Blu-ray Writer drives earlier this year and back in October 2024, but unfortunately, they’ve become extremely difficult to source. Like the Pioneer Premium BDR-S13E-X, they’re now considered collector’s items and are selling very quickly.

As some of you may know, I’ve been very unwell over the past 12 months, spending long periods in hospital receiving treatment. During this time, we successfully secured several batches of Pioneer drives from Pioneer Europe. However, with each new batch, the cost has increased significantly. Pioneer appears to have recognised the value of these drives and, unfortunately, raised their prices dramatically.

Due to this, we strongly recommend that anyone interested in securing one of these premium drives do so promptly rather than later. As we work through the remaining stock, each new batch reflects the higher prices we paid, and we doubt you will have another opportunity to purchase these drives again. The BDR-S13EBK is also an excellent drive. Both these models work excellently with the Vantec DX2, and we have had no issues whatsoever with Vantec DX2 5.25" enclosures.
