Just received my first drive order (BDR-XS07TS). Ordered on Sunday, shipped on Wednesday, arrived on Friday. Shipping cost was a little steep (since it was UPS only) and I was a little worried about sending such a large amount via paypal family&friends but it was very well packed and works right out of the box. Email replies (and customer service) were quick and detailed as well! :)

I would prefer to order one of the drives available on your site directly, rather than through eBay, as the only item presently listed there is a bit too pricey for me. What with a 23-to-1 exchange rate against the pound.
Please email us your name and full address, as we need this information to generate a quote.

The order arrived in Spain yesterday afternoon. Shipping was fast. Very well packaged and working perfectly. I've already made my first backup with the Pioneer XD08EMB-S.

Waiting for the second order. :D

Thanks to the Asmcom team for their service.

Axel.

Thank you for the swift turnaround and communication. I have just installed the drive today and run a 4K rip with it, all works as it should.

What's the diff between the EU drives and the US drives? I understand diff regions, but what exactly does that mean?
If I bought and EU drive and I am in the US what are the downsides? I can't play/rip any US region discs?

Can you let me know as well? I just placed an order on your site and I'm in the US. Will I have issues using the drive?

Region Code Handling with MakeMKV and Pioneer Drives

MakeMKV does not remove region codes but can bypass region checks by directly interacting with the disc drive. This allows you to rip and play DVDs and Blu-rays from different regions without issue. In our experience, Pioneer drives reliably read and rip Region 1 discs using MakeMKV.

If you plan to play discs directly without ripping, you should set your drive to match the region of your country. For example, if you purchase a U.S. drive like the BDR-S13UBK, and you live in the UK, you should set it to Region 2 if most of your discs are from that region. If you live in the US and most of your discs are region 1 the you should set the drive to what the majority of what region your discs are.

We have successfully ripped over 100 Region 1 US discs on various Pioneer European models without any issues using MakeMKV and Redfox ANYDVDHD. Based on this, we believe you should not encounter any problems.

Region Coding

Blu-ray drives typically enforce region coding for movies, with Region A (USA) and Region B (Europe) being the most common. However, if you use software like MakeMKV or AnyDVD HD in LibreDrive mode, region restrictions can often be bypassed, allowing greater flexibility in playback and ripping.

Drive Compatibility

Pioneer drives are compatible across multiple operating systems, including Windows and macOS, using standard USB or SATA connections. Ensure your system has the appropriate ports (e.g., USB 3.0 or SATA) for seamless integration.

Is there any benefit to the optical drives in the enclosures vs one of the slim portable ones? I just need to transfer my bluray collection and wondering if its worth spending extra for the big ones or what the benefit is, but 300-400 usd is quite expensive..

Hi all, just wanted to say that this forum has really helped me in my journey to move all of my 4K UHD physical discs to digital so that my home theater demos going forward would be sooo much easier and quicker! I've learned so much from the basics of getting started, to flashing my first LG drive, to the trials and errors of ripping 4K discs... Now that my small collection has been moved over to a Zidoo Z30 Pro 8K media player (which I HIGHLY recommended by the way compared to an outrageously expensive Kaleidescape system), it's been a huge time-saver and even a beautiful 4K UI Poster Wall to select from!

Anyways, I wanted to give a big shout-out to Asmcom here... My LG drive was decent, but I found that I only had about a 50-60% success rate on ripping my 4K discs, which was a bit frustrating and wasted a lot of time. So I really wanted to try some of the Pioneer drives, but had a very difficult time finding 4K compatible ones, and even ordered one via eBay only to find out that it didn't have the correct firmware version so I had to return it. Most of the eBay sellers (if they even respond) only had newer firmware. Luckily I read about Asmcom a few months back, and anxiously waited until they were ready to go live. As soon as the website went live, I placed an order for 2 Pioneer drives! Even though I had an issue with the website on that first launch day, Asmcom's support team helped immediately to resolve the issue and the order went through. Shipping from the UK to the US was quicker than expected, as I received mine in about 5 days after shipping (even including the weekend)!

Sure enough, both drives worked great out of the box... much quieter and faster than my LG external usb drive! The drives were packed very secure and safe for the trip, and looked brand new even though they opened and tested the drives. Couldn't even tell someone was in there, and no fingerprints to be found anywhere! Impressive... I was even surprised that the box included different power cables for different countries as I expected to have to purchase a power adapter for the US (for a UK device). And the bag of gummy bears was a nice touch too! The UHD Friendly Drives Team was also very responsive in answering a follow-up question on the speed difference between USB-A and USB-C cable, and even updated their website to include that information to help others.

On a side note, I do have a couple of 4K discs that seem like none of the drives were able to read properly (Aquaman, Avengers Endgame, Deadpool 2) even after careful cleaning, but I suspect those discs are scratched as they all seem to fail at about the same time spot on the disc... However, the Pioneer drives have been able to rip most of the other discs that the LG couldn't!

So, thank you Asmcom/UHD Friendly Drives Team for your excellent service and support, responsiveness, and attention to detail! It's rare to find eBay/online sellers that are so helpful, and I believe they offer a much-needed and much-appreciated service to this community!
