Nice comparisons! have you been able to do any additional comparisons with the shield+vertex vs x700 on FEL titles?
No, but I will now that I can get accurate colors with the Shield.

So I made some color comparison tests with my HDfury Vertex on the Shield and the Sony x700 which accurately play DV.
Using the Vertex scaler, I removed the BT2020 flag from the RGB 8BIT Dolby vision signal and bingo!! the red push is gone.
No doubt in my mind this is the problem.

Very nice work! BTW, do you have a chromecast ultra to try the same thing on? It also triggers BT2020 on my E6 when outputting DV.

Maybe I missed it so apologies for being lazy and not searching right now, but what did you do on the vertex to remove the bt2020 flag? I'd like to try that with my integral 2. Thanks!!

No, I don't own a Chromecast Ultra.

in the scaler tab, you select ''RGB FULL'' for colorspace and ''follow'' for deep color.

Awesome, thanks. Will try that when I get a free minute.

EDIT: Brilliant! I just tried it out on a few videos, and it seems to work. This makes the shield usable for DV until they provide a proper fix.

Hi,
I’m trying to mux the movie “The Dark Tower (2017)” to profile 5, using yusesope’s tool (v4 alpha) but I’m getting errors and the result file plays with glitchy, purple and green vertical lines on M9702 and on Panasonic Oled’s internal player. I muxed it with the proper version of tsMuxeR which gives profile 5 DV, and which I’d used successfully for multiple movies.
V3, revision1 of the tool doesn’t give any errors, it finishes the process as intended but results in the same glitchy file.
The source is a full, decrypted UHD BluRay copy, and I also tried to demux the BL and EL with both FFMPEG and EAC3TO and even tried DVDFab’s single layer mp4 mode, but the end result was always the same. I have 2 different backups of the UHD BluRay, the chances are very low that both of them are corrupted.
What could be the issue? I’ve never run into this problem before.

why are you making profile 5 files when you have a M9702?

I'm making it for a friend, who has a TV which only supports profile 5.

Maybe give v3 of yusecope's tool a try, but if dvdfab's method is also failing and other titles have worked with your exact same worflow, then it's likely that this title is just an edge case that may require further looking into.

I apologize if this has been asked before, maybe several times.

In theory, a profile 4 played on the 2019 shield is or is not the same quality/full viewing experience as a UHD disc (profile 7 i assume) played on lets say x700?

it plays both mp4 and ts dual-layer profile 7 DV. But with Atmos + subs, only in a TS container.
it works via the network but not so well, thanks to the slow 100mbps ethernet port. No plex app, unfortunately.
the only downside is the bug that won't let you play 2 movies/files without having to reboot the player.
You say it has no plex app, but can it connect to a local plex-server and just play the files on there?
With the new mkv spec out/coming out, would a mkv ripped with makemkv 1.15.2 be playable on it?

I'm not sure, I don't use the x700 network at all.

I tried that last night and it only played in HDR10.
But just like tsMuxer, the x700 does not support Atmos in a MKV container so a DV mkv would be useless if you want Atmos+DV.

@SamuriHL and @RESET9999, do either of you happen to have Saving Private Ryan ripped? I’m curious to see if the red push workaround also solved the flickering issues that was only found on this title.
