'BH' (retail, boxed) vs 'WH' (OEM, bulk)... same HW, for all intents & purposes. That FW is fine.

After changing the sata port and the cable, waiting + - one minute the disk loads on windows and MakeMKV with firmware WH16NS60 1.02MK.
With BH16NS60 1.00MK : working with MakeMKV but not DVDFab (drive not supported).
Summary of all my tests :
Original Firmware :
After patching LG WH16NS60 1.01MK or 1.02MK (work with MakeMKV but not DVDFab (incompatible firmware))
After paching BH16NS60 1.00MK (work with MakeMKV but not DVDFab (drive not supported)) :
After patching ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.03MK (work with MakeMKV but not DVDFab (incompatible firmware)) :
After patching DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00 and restart PC like always the disc makes noise and does not launch on windows/DVDFab/MakeMKV no matter how long I leave it in :
Same think happens (the disc makes noise and does not launch) with ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.00 (find in another archive), DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.01, DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.02, ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.10MK,...
I'm running out of ideas... If my player was defective it wouldn't work with any firmware right?
Maybe if a firmware exists with these versions it would work with DVDFab: WH16NS60 1.00MK or BW-16D1HT 3.00MK / 3.01MK but I can't find them.

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
There is no WH16NS60 1.00-MK firmware. It's simply 1.00 as there was no need to modify it. MakeMKV and DVDFab both work with the WH16NS60 1.00 firmware.
It should work fine. It's the firmware I'm using. I don't know why it's not working for you. I have it on my BW-16D1HT as well and it's working great there, too. I have a new NS60 on the way that's going into a Vantec case for my laptop which will also get 1.00 when it arrives.Because I already try "DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin" and that's not working. The reader was making a lot of noise and that's all
Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
You did a lot of flashing firmwares. I hope you didn't forget to reboot your computer after each of those. You need to and can't just continue after flashing the firmware.
Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
Of course I restart the computer each time
It took me a long time to do all these tests ...
Sorry for my bas english, i'm belgian and speak french
I don't know why it's don't work with DE 1.0 because I know that a lot of people use it. That's why i need your help :p
If I install firmware WH16NS58 or WH16NS40 ? Its works with Asus BW-16D1HT ?
For example, maybe compatible with DVDFab :

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
somehow you don't seem to have the latest releases regarding firmware. Look here.
Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
They aren't trying to be on the latest firmware. That's not the point. They want an NS60 firmware that works in DVDFab as well as MakeMKV.
That only leaves the WH16NS60 1.00 firmware that I'm using. And I don't understand why it can't read any discs when you flash that one. What are you using to flash, the ASUS ODD firmware changer? Nothing's running in the background while you're flashing, right? Anything that's messing with the optical drive filter chain could cause issues. DeUHD has a driver that can sometimes screw things up. AnyDVD should not be running when flashing. Just a couple of examples. I can't imagine the NS60 1.00 firmware not working so I'm at a loss here.

Given that it's an ASUS BW-16D1HT you might want to try the NS55 1.00 or NS40-NS50 1.02 firmware on it and see if either of those work. Either of those will make the drive friendly. Why DVDFab doesn't allow other friendly firmware is beyond me. They literally limit it to a specific set of firmware. E.G. 3.10-MK doesn't work. I BELIVE 3.01 does which was one of the original friendly firmware that was non-MK for the BW-16D1HT. I'm sure there's a DE version of that kicking around so it might be worth trying.
Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri
Yes I'm using ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified).exe to flash my drive. Each time without anything else starting.
I reflash now WH16NS60 1.02MK and that's working well on windows and with MakeMKV. But this firmware is sadly not compatible with DVDFab...
None of the DE versions that I tried from the start work ... It's weird ...
I test today :
- WH16NS58 1.V5MK NOK
- BH16NS55 1.02DE NOK
- BH16NS40-NS50 1.04MK NOK

Yea I don't know on this one. My BW-16D1HT is working fine with the WH16NS60 1.00 firmware. My original WH16NS60 is very happy on 1.00, as well. My new one will be whether it wants to or not when it gets here. LOL! I don't really have any great advice on this one. Personally I flash the drives with SDF tool using the makemkvcon64 command line. But it sounds like the drive is flashing ok with the modified windows flasher. i don't really have any additional advice on this one. Sorry.

Have you tried using WH16NS60 1.02-MK and just ignoring the DVDFab incompatible firmware issue?rere130 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:09 pmYes I'm using ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified).exe to flash my drive. Each time without anything else starting.

I tested this a while back on the trial version of DVDFab with BH16NS55 1.04-MK. When DVDFab gives the incompatible firmware error, I just clicked "do not show this again" and then used DVDFab as normal. It ripped a UHD disc no problems.
I also tested BW-16D1HT 3.10-MK this way but unfortunately, it would not work.
I don't know if NS60 1.02-MK will do the same but if you want to use DVDFab, it's worth a try.
Cheers

Really? That's an option? Neat. Not that it impacts me as I see 1.00 as a baseline near perfect firmware, but, that's good to know. I wonder why 3.10-MK doesn't work given that it's friendly. Yeah, the trial expired so I've uninstalled it but yes it worked for NS55 104-MK.SamuriHL wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 12:08 amReally? That's an option? Neat. I guess I can experiment with it tomorrow as I've got a lifetime license. I don't ever really use it but I bought it as insurance just in case. I can try flashing different firmware and see what happens.
