Did I brick my Buffalo BRXL-PT6U2VB?

Post by cdemi »

I have bought the Buffalo BRXL-PT6U2VB EU External Drive.

I have managed to flash

Code: Select all

ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014.bin
and now my drive shows as:

Code: Select all

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: BUFFALO
Product: Optical Drive
Revision: 3.10
Serial number: MZFK1IF4404
Firmware date: 2119-01-04 10:14
Bus encryption flags: 1F

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 3.10
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Possible, not yet enabled

No disc inserted
However the discs are still not being read. As I understood, I need to flash either

Code: Select all

HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.02-NM01201-211711301218
or

Code: Select all

HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-BN11-0M00300-211711201351
but both are giving me

Code: Select all

Updating Failure #5
.

I am using the following pack:

Code: Select all

(Modified) ASUS ODD FW Changer (24.08.2019) + UHD Friendly Firmwares + Latest MK Pack (15.04.2020)

Yes it's bricked
I really don't get it I post the way not to brick your drive and you do it anyway.
Read cross flash warnings

The only way to fix is now is to take the drive apart and use dosflash with a direct sata connection in ide mode

You sure did. What possessed you to choose the ASUS firmware to load on a slim LG drive?
