Right, a full backup requires the jars on the disc to be patched so that the menu points to the correct playlist when AACS encryption is removed. Currently, afaik, MakeMKV does not alter full backups except for AACS removal (both AACS 2 and AACS 2.1). Therefore a full backup of a screen pass protected disc will not work correctly.

So has a case been opened for that?SamuriHL wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 6:46 pmRight, a full backup requires the jars on the disc to be patched so that the menu points to the correct playlist when AACS encryption is removed. Re: Knives Out UHD
This disc has ruined my weekend.
Makemkv starts as normal and recognises it but starts making some nasty noises and warns that it can't read it. So I cleaned the disc then makmkv wouldn't even recognise it was inserted (or any other UHD or BD I tried), even after reboots. I assumed my drive was broken.
The next day I tried again with exactly the same results.
Today I tried a different UHD and all was fine. I'm scared to try Knives Out again but all else appears ok.
Just that disc seems to temporarily kill my drive. Weird.

Has anyone managed to rip the UK version? I'm still getting "The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted" and submitted the dump last Friday
Re: Knives Out UHD
How do you deal with screen pass discs? My full backup of the UHD Knives Out doesn't play via my Oppo, but just sits at a black screen and never populates the menu loading screen. Display on the Oppo reads zeroes for chapter, time, etc. Sounds like this is a known issue, but hoping for a work around.
Re: Knives Out UHD
I'm in the exact same boat. Hoping for an update on this issue.speeddemon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 7:09 amIs there eventually going to be a fix in MakeMKV to enable us to perform full backups of these films while removing ScreenPass?
My issue is that the I want to be able to backup my movies so I can play them back on my Oppo BDP-203, but I don't want to lose Dolby Vision in the process.
If I have to just backup Playlist 945 in this case to an MKV file then I lose the ability to playback Dolby Vision and also run into the Oppo's "issues" with Dolby Atmos tracks in MKV files.
Re: Knives Out UHD
Anyone have a status update regarding this UHD disc and full backups? Or have any alternative suggestions in general?
Re: Knives Out UHD
Just wanted to give this a bump. I'm trying other methods but I can't seem to figure out how to deal with screen pass when playing back on an Oppo 203.Chipless wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 6:26 pmI'm in the exact same boat. Mike,
We'd definitely appreciate if you would look into this.
Thank you.

Re: Knives Out UHD
FWIW, the Netflix disc I got does not have a 945.mpls. Goes from 00942 to 00950.
