I have a WH14NS40 on firmware 1.0. I was in the middle of ripping Godzilla King of the Monsters and the it threw out a bunch of i/o errors and now the drive does not read any Blu Rays. It still reads DVDs and CDs. I noticed windows now sees it as a CD drive in properties, but it is still called BD-RE on the "This PC". The manufacturer is listed as "Standard CD-ROM drives" and the driver date says its from 2006 (I don't know if this is what it's supposed to be.) When I tried flashing to a newer firmware it states "CheckSum is mismatched. Drive will go to BOOT mode. Please try again."
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

the bluray part of the drive is dead you can try cleaning the laser to see that will fix it but it probably wont. all the driver stuff is unrelated it always says that. sorry its probably time for a new drive.

I'd be curious to get a look at the sticker on that drive. I've had nothing but trouble with factory original 1.00 LG units and totally failed on flashing them forward to 1.02 kind of like what looks like happened here. The drive is most likely toasted like Bill said I wouldn't spend too much time on it. I've got a new drive for you if needed. Thank you.JoeAztec wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 1:40 amI have a WH14NS40 on firmware 1.0. Here's a picture of the drive. It was able to rip 4k blu rays without having to flash it at all. Thanks for your help

Classic drive from hell right there.
You didn’t happen to grab a dump of the 1.00 firmware did you? Definitely don’t toss the carcass that thing is a piece of history.
