Post by root7053 »

Hello.

Downgrading firmware to version 1.00 using ASUS flashing tool failed.

What should I do ?

Is that drive in an external enclosure? Then that might be the reason. Some enclosures don't support all necessary commands via USB.

Please try and contact Mike (mike admin) and see if he can extract 1.01 from your drive. If he is able to extract it, he will be able to make a MK firmware.
Cheers :D

I guess your enclosure doesn't support the necessary command via USB. If you can take it out and attach it directly to the SATA port of yor PC it will most likely work to flash it.
After that you can put it back into the enclosure and you are all set.

I just picked up one of these drives. MakeMKV recognizes the disk title but, when I try to open the drive, I get a LOT of "Key Exchange" errors and eventually get the error "LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted." Apparently the 1.01 firmware on this drive needs to be downgraded.

When I use the ASUS tool to downgrade from the 1.01 firmware to the 1.0 firmware, I receive the error "Updating error #5".

What's needed to allow this drive to rip a UHD disk?

Thanks.

Be sure to have the newest modified ASUS flasher.
The software file I downloaded was "ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer_(Modified) (24.08.2019).zip"

The Firmware file I downloaded was "Hybrid_Firmware_for_BP50NB40_to_BP60NB10.zip"

I used the firmware file "DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin"

NOTE: Even if I can't get this drive to rip UHD content, it's still a HUGE improvement over the ASUS drive I had. The ASUS drive would never move data faster than 9MB/S while I've seen this LG running at >24MB/S. This is a HUGE time saver. If I can get it to work, UHD is just icing on top of the cake :)

Those with 1.01 cannot currently be downgraded. Please contact mike admin and see if he can extract a copy of the firmware from your drive.

I can't PM yet due to post count (or registration date) but I can also coordinate to give remote access to a BP60NB10 for a v1.01 firmware rip if needed.

Mike has the firmware from my drive and has sent me a "test" instance of the firmware, and a procedure to use to load it. I have 2 DVDs to rip before I'll be caught up, after which I'll start testing.

This has gone surprisingly fast.

Thank you Mike.

BP60NB10 Firmware Downgrade Error

Wow go Mike go!

I’m lucky I bought this drive recently and it still had 1.0 from newegg USA.

Very lucky indeed. But good to know there is hope for future shipments.

Thanks for sharing the firmware peter-a and thanks again Mike this is stellar service and you prove time and again. MakeMKV is worth every penny.

Thank you for the update, peter-a.

Mike: If you're keeping an eye on this thread and need another user to test, let me know.
