I'm getting the same 0 titles saved, 1 failed message on a few of my DVDs.
I'll try to use an older version of makemkv when I get a chance.

So far, I have had about 40 successful rips, and 3 failed.

The failed ones are:

Backdraft
Battlestar Galactica (Original Movie)
Bridget Jones' Diary

All of these are UK region 2 PAL releases, and curiously all Universal titles.

They are also fairly old titles. Are the discs soiled or physically damaged? If so, have you tried cleaning them?

To be honest I haven't tried cleaning them yet, but will do when I get a chance. My main plan was to get through the first shelf (about 100 titles) and then tackle the problem ones before moving onto the next shelf.
It may well be that they need a clean, but they have all been stored in their cases, and carefully used once or twice so I would be surprised if that was the problem. However, if it is, then hopefully a clean will sort them :)

Im also getting the same error with a single dvd set. Ive only done a handful of dvds so far and only one has given me an issue. The different for me is that all my dvds are already ripped so i am going from the folders on the hdd to mkv.

The dvd that has given me trouble is disc two of the Titanic set. Disc one processes fine, but disc two always fails. Through the some trial and error, im tracked it back to the audio stream. If i only check the video and subs i need, it will go through and make the mkv. It fails if i add in the audio stream or try to make one with the audio alone. Im not having any playback issues with that disc, so im not sure what the issue might be. I also went ahead and extracted the audio with another app and muxed it with the video only mkv file that was made and that works fine.

It's a known error with version 1.6.0, will be corrected in a next version.

Cleaned discs and no effect.
It happens literally half a second after starting the process so I didn't think it was a cleaning problem.
You can add to the list the UK release of Gladiator too.

Also I noticed that out of the 4 titles, not only are they all Universal, but 3 out of the 4 have the Playstation 2 compatible logo on the spine of the box. Maybe a coincidence but thought it worth mentioning.

Yes, an error in 1.6.0 . You might try an old version 1.5.8 from http://www.makemkv.com/download/old/ or wait a few days for 1.6.2

If there's a 1.6.2 around the corner I'll happily wait for that :)
Plenty more discs do whilst I'm waiting anyway!
Thanks for the info

hi mike, with the new release 1.6.2, of 50 dvds, 40 continuosly had problems.
it's a good sign that the problem with the 10 other dvds was resolved, but the percentage is still low.

do we have to wait for the next release?

good job mike and thanks !!

@ZENTROPA

Hi and welcome as a new member!
of 50 dvds, 40 continuosly had problems.

Please be good enough to post a list of the 40 problematic DVDs (Title and Region)

Considering the overwhelming success ratio of MakeMKV regarding any and all legitimate DVDs (greater than 90%), I'd suggest to you that the godawful results you've indicated (20% success ratio) can only be the result of problems on your end, such as any of the following, separately or in concert:

1) Damaged original, commercial source DVDs
2) Dirty original, commercial source DVDs
3) Failing read drive/burner
4) Dirty read drive/burner
5) Using other than purchased commercial DVDs as source
6) Overheating system
7) Overheating drive
8 ) Other hardware problem(s)

Please submit a Debug Log of one of your problematic attempts...

Hi Mike!

I'll explain in detail.

I am transfering my private DVD collection onto hardisk. The 50 films I was having problems with were not all of the DVDs I was converting with makemkv (version 1.6.0), but only the ones that gave me the infamous error "0 titles saved, 1 failed". I had this problem with 50/700 DVDs I converted, so not a bad average. I have about 1200 DVDs in my collection. I am still working on tranfering them, though I should be done soon! Since we last spoke, I've had this problem with 80/1000 DVDs (with makemkv 1.6.2).

The DVDs I am transfering are the orginals and in perfect condition - not dirty and without scratches. The drive DVD-rom that I'm using is new. I've tried transfering with three different drives - the problem is definately with makemkv and not the drive.

I noticed that the problem occurs mainly when the chapters of the dvd inside the disk are not at the beginning of the transfer list. For example:
-chapter bonus 314MB
-chapter bonus 218MB
-chapter film 5.4GB
-chapter bonus 69MB

Obviously the average rate of success of conversion for the burned dvds has lowered notably. The burned dvds are not corrupt however, since they work in my dvd player on the computer and my stand alone dvd player. Makemkv has serious problems reasing and communicating the file .ifo of the burned disks.

This common problem sometimes happens after the file is already converted, and sometimes before even starting the conversion.

I'm attaching the debug log of one of the problems that occurred before the conversion began (the film is "sweet sixteen" of ken loach) :

That looks very strange - disc failed and there is no single "DEBUG:" code. Can you please try another disc and see if you get any of "DEBUG:" strings?
