New UHD Friendly Drives and Associated UHD Hardware. 45 Drives Sold in 2 Weeks

Post by DVD Maniac »

Hello!
My handle on this site might give you a clue about me. I have been playing around with Digital media (even VHS!) for decades I am now semi retired and wanted a small home based business to keep my brain in gear! I offer reasonably priced UHD Read Friendly drives, USB Adapters, Graphics Cards and Premium custom built Media PC's all tested to be compatible with each other and of course UHD Friendly. What's more, if your drive fails due to a Laser or Transport failure I will sort you out with either a repaired drive or a new one GUARNTEED providing you have registered it on the manufacturers site and it is in Warranty.

I am working on building an official website, but you can find me on ebay uk at https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/uhdtechnologyservices

- LG and ASUS ranges
- Free 2 -3 Day Shipment (UK Mainland)
- Europe 4 Day Shipment
- 60 Day Return Policy
- Warranty Guarantee

If you wish to call me first before ordering, get in touch on this site

I am a complete non-techie. We have recently bought a new home, and it is so much smarter than us! We have a Control4 System that I am buying 2 8GB Western Digital Drives in a bay. The thought is to load all our blu ray movies (as well as photos and songs) on them, then we can access them through Control4 throughout our 8 tvs through Plex loaded on the Drives. So on to what I think I need. I have the blu ray movies. I will have the Hard Drives. I have a computer. I will be getting Plex and loading it onto the 2 hard drives, once I get them. I will have a blu ray player (I know that is NOT what I need).

I need a blu ray ripper that will allow 4K blu rays, regular blu rays, even dvds to somehow be copied from the blu ray to the hard drive (whether I go through the computer or not). I would like to use MakeMKV, I believe, based on all I've been reading and seeing on YouTube. Do you have a ripper that I can purchase with MakeMKV loaded already, or anything else I need to send them to Plex? What is the guarantee once I order it? Do you provide help in case I get "stuck"? Thank you! I've read about certain LG's and ASUS' that are good, particularly these:
LG WH16NS40 -- http://geni.us/XLWK
LG on B&H -- https://bhpho.to/2Gie5WB
ASUS BW-16D1HT -- http://geni.us/BEKWu6

Thank you again.

Hi Rdhjdh,
Sorry for delayed response, been VERY busy and overwhelmed with orders. Here are the answers -

Connectivity - You have 3 options. 1. Install an internal drive in your pc which is UHD Friendly. 2. Buy a UHD Native External Drive with USB 3.0, the choice of these is rather limited and they are VERY overpriced. 3. Get a UHD Friendly internal drive and simply connect it with a compatible USB 3.0 to SATA adapter. If you look on my ebay site you will find solutions to Options 1 and 3.

Original Disk Type - All the drives I sell are "M-Drives" which will cope with all the formats you mention. The value I add is the ability to read UHD with a thoroughly tested drive with a modified (and this is important) current firmware. So called downgrading works but you get a dive that is slower and less compatible.

Your Software - I am not sure what you mean here but you definitely need the software on the PC or Mac and not on the disk.

Drive Selection - Tricky one here as these drives have only been on the market for a few years. In my experience some drives perform brilliantly for a year or 2 but then suddenly die on you. All my stress testing puts the ASUS drives (despite being rebadged LG's) ahead but this is just my experience. Its up to you on your brand preference and I sell most of the drives you mention. The ASUS BC-12D2HT with the latest 3.11 Firmware performs much better than with the older firmware, then you have the very good 16x BW-16D1HT. In my opinion the best LG in terms of performance / price is the WH14NS40. I sell all of these mentioned.

Plex /Other Media Centre Software - All will work with Plex Media Centre or whatever.

Warranty / Support - Read my policy on ebay. There is a possibility the manufacturer will spot a "non official" firmware in the event your drive fails and reject the RMA. So that is why I offer to get the drive back to official firmware state or else will provide you a new drive within the terms of the manufacturer warranty. In terms of support I am happy to provide ongoing support as the technologies evolve (which they will!)

Graham. I purchased an LG drive via ebAy from you that was delivered promptly - before your estimate :) I had a quick query following my purchase - I've sent you a message via eBay, but not sure if your store on there is still active, now you have a website.

I've tried to message you here - but doesn't appear to let me.

Thanks :)
