LG WP50NB40 - "Update Failure #3" Error
So I followed the instructions of the last post on this thread, which points to the download found on this thread, but I'm getting the following error as soon as the tray is ejected: Updating Failure #3. The firmware I'm attempting to use is HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WP50NB40-NB50-1.01-NM00200-211711231646.bin, which is found under MK/HL-DT-ST/WP50NB40-NB50 within the mk-firmware-pack-20191206. Any thoughts?
TL;DR - Receiving "Update Failure #3" error when attempting to flash my LG WP50NB40 using the modified ASUS Flasher and the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WP50NB40-NB50-1.01-NM00200-211711231646.bin firmware.

Re: LG WP50NB40 - "Update Failure #3" Error
Try using search for "failure #3" with the quotes. It seems to be an external enclosure issue. Does that fit your situation?

Also, what firmware does your drive currently have?joeleisner wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:33 pmSo I followed the instructions of the last post on this thread, which points to the download found on this thread, but I'm getting the following error as soon as the tray is ejected: Updating Failure #3. jinx100 - I'll try this out once I get home from work. Is the search feature directly built-in to the modified ASUS Flasher?
MartyMcNuts - The current firmware of my drive is 1.0.0. Interestingly enough, I attempting to upgrade it to LG's official 1.0.1 firmware, but their software claims I'm at/above the firmware which I'm trying to flash, which is false. Not sure how I can work around that.

No, the forum search, not the flasher.I'll try this out once I get home from work. Is the search feature directly built-in to the modified ASUS Flasher?
It looks like WP50NB40 firmware 1.00 is capable of LibreDrive as is. So you may not need an update. If you copy your drive and LibreDrive status from the right pane when you open MakeMKV to your next post, it would help us diagnose the problem.

jinx100 - I'll send a screenshot shortly. In the meantime, I was looking through the forum and people said it could be the USB hub the drive is connected to when attempting to flash it; I've moved this external drive to numerous different USB ports on my machine to no avail.

Re: LG WP50NB40 - "Update Failure #3" Error
So your drive is on firmware 1.01 (not 1.00). I have a feeling that the "WP" model can't be flashed with the modified flasher.joeleisner wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 12:08 amjinx100 - Alright, here's a screenshot of the drive info inside of MakeMKV:
PS: Just so you know, the MK firmware for this drive is not UHD friendly. If you are after UHD readability, you should try and cross-flash the drive to BP60NB10 using my hybrid (HBD) firmware.
Cheers

Thanks, that confirms that you are trying to install the correct MK firmware and SDF.bin is installed in the MKV data directory.Alright, here's a screenshot of the drive info inside of MakeMKV:
Marty wrote the Asus modified flasher and he says it may not work for your drive. Then try the LG modified flasher. A link to that flasher is https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 284#p70284
There are some instructions and screenshots at https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 16&t=21015 for using this flasher.

jinx100 - Awesome. I'll give this a shot and let you know how I make out.
MartyMcNuts - Should've checked the current firmware via MakeMKV instead of LG's flasher utility; My bad. It's a shame the MK firmware for this drive does not support UHD. You're talking about cross-flashing, but I'm not exactly sure how that works; Can you clarify how to go about doing this?
Thanks for all the help, y'all!

jinx100 - So, I attempted to flash the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WP50NB40-NB50-1.01-NM00200-211711231646.bin firmware using the modified LG flasher, but it gets stuck at 0% (it's been stuck on this for the better part of 10 minutes or so):
Re: LG WP50NB40 - "Update Failure #3" Error
joeleisner,
I apologize for leading you down this rabbit hole. From a search on WP50NB40 this is one drive we cannot flash. You will need to go to your task manager and kill the flasher task to stop it.
Your drive has the right controller chip and firmware is available but there is no method yet to install it. Maybe MartyMcNuts is working on that now. Sorry.

Using the modified ASUS flasher and the hybrid (HBD) firmware, it is possible to cross-flash the "BP"50NB40 (SVC: NB50) to a BP60NB10. It worked for me and a few others.joeleisner wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 10:41 pmjinx100 - Awesome. I'll give this a shot and let you know how I make out.

What I did was flash my BP50NB40 from 1.01 to 1.01-MK. That is when I discovered it is not UHD friendly. So I created the HBD firmware for this drive. So I then flashed my BP50NB40 to BP60NB10 using the HBD firmware and now it is recognized as a BP60NB10, can read UHD and has libredrive enabled.
As I mentioned before, I don't know if it will work with the "WP"50NB40 but it shouldn't hurt you to try.
Cheers
